Diagnosis of Breast Cancer
Lumpectomy versus mastectomy after breast cancer diagnosis. Lumpectomies are quickly becoming the surgery of choice for many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Early detection and hard hitting chemotherapy make it possible to preserve as much breast tissue as is medically possible. What is surprising to many women is the pain associated with breast biopsies. Once that is behind them, it can be seen to suggest a lumpectomy. Many women have reported that a lumpectomy is less painful than a biopsy. Anesthesia can be a wonderful thing. Following these easy steps can greatly reduce your pain after surgery.
Sports Bra
One of the first things used after a lumpectomy to contain a breast ulcer is a well-fitting sports bra. Most women reported bringing one home. Hospitals do not supply sports after a lumpectomy. If you’re lucky, you’ll wake up after the game process, already in place. The medical staff will try and place a splint on you while you are still under anesthesia to minimize your discomfort.
Corilla Glue
Run sewing mills quickly replaced with needlepoint glue. Not exactly twisted glue but close. Lumpectomy incisions are often closed enough to be stitched together. This eliminates the inconvenience that the sutures are removed after a week.
Hydrocodone
Hydrocodone is usually offered for pain relief immediately after surgery. Since this is often done on an inpatient basis, it is common to leave the hospital with a prescription. Many women prefer not to use strong pain medication. Some cannot tolerate anything stronger than Tylenol. One of the most important aspects of pain control is to reduce swelling at the surgical site.
Got peas?
Often the patient will be sent home with packs and instructions whenever the ice is cut. Unfortunately, when the ice comes out of the freezer, it is usually hard rock. This does not go well with chest ulcers. The next time you reach into the freezer for arthritis pain relief, opt for a bag of frozen peas. It is a flexible and superior alternative to hard ice skates. Frozen peas can easily be tucked inside a sports bra and adjusted for maximum coverage. Curve where curve. But frozen corn would do the job just as well. These little frozen treats come in different sizes as well. Small breasts do well in eight-ounce bags. Large breasts do better with the sixteen ounce version.
Mom/Grams
Needless to say, every woman can hold a small hand to ease the pain of a lumpectomy. The only way to do that is to breast cancer early. Whether you’re a virgin, a mom, or a grandma, get a mammogram every year. If there is a history of cancer in your family, it is not too early to have your first mammogram in your thirties. Go to pressure and pass on those peas later, if possible. Knowledge is power. A lumpectomy is better than a mastectomy. Cats glue better than stitches. Frozen peas are better than ice packs. Early exposure helps moms to be live grams at some point!
