Ask someone who has frozen cauliflower and cauliflower and what is the worst. They will almost always say: Green worms! These green fat worms love to bury themselves in cabbage and cauliflower. They also gnaw the leaves. But don’t despair, I’ll show you how I remove these calves, and how easy it is to make cold cabbage and cauliflower…without the worms!
Preparation of Broccoli and Cauliflower~ JOY!!
You went to the garden and cut heads of cabbage and cabbage. All their leaves. Run cold water in a sink, and make sure it is deep enough to submerge the cabbage and cauliflower completely.
I fill my sink about half full with cold water and then pour about 1/3 cup of salt into the middle. water and around good suggess. Some also add vinegar, to this too a cupful of water.
Algae and cauliflower willing to float, raised to the surface. So I use those plates to “sit down”. I want to completely submerge ALL HEADS AND FRAGMENTS in salt water. Why? Salt to kill worms. At least, that’s to let the cabbage and cauliflower go.
I leave this to soak for about an hour. I collect each part, looking for green worms, and rinse under running water. I put these pieces in a bowl or bowl. You will see many green worm bodies floating in your water. This is great, drain your pocket and throw away the worms.
Then, please cut the heads into pieces or divide them into bulk. This also gives me another opportunity to look for green worms. When I finished “picing” again, I ran the water in the sink and salted it. I put the parts back in the water to soak them for the second and last time. Many people soak only once, but I find that I get much better results by soaking all green worms using 2.
After 30 min. or you can run it under water and put it in a strainer. Going on to inspect each part. The cauliflower and/or cauliflower is now white and ready to freeze.
Instructions: How to grow cauliflower and cauliflower.
Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. I wait until it burns fast. Then gently and carefully place the cabbage or cauliflower in the water. I put the lid on my pot and let it cook for 2 minutes. When the timer goes off, I grab the pieces, being careful not to scald the boiling water. I put the filter on and fill my pump with very cold water. I put my filter in the water, and also tap on the contents of the filter tap. The point is you want to refrigerate the broccoli or cauliflower as much as you can.
After a quick cooling, please put a towel or two down and put a strainer in it for a while to drain the cabbage or cauliflower completely. This helps keep ice crystals from forming.
Next, take your favorite freezer bag and place the cabbage in the cabbage bag. Some people put it on their heads. I’m not just stressing. Try to get as much air out of the bag as possible. Print the name of the veggie and the date on the bag. Place the bags immediately in the freezer.
Cauliflower and cauliflower will last faster if you don’t “stack” them, but spread them around in your freezer. You can go back and stack them after they are set.
Some Safety Tips!
Carrying a pot full of water can be hard sunk in the stove behind. Fill the pot half way using a sink. Bring to the stove and then use a quart container and fill the pot.
If you use a lid on a pot of boiling water like I do, you will have an eye on it. Using a lid can make a container of water redundant. I usually leave it a little uncovered on the lid. That is, the lid is not tight. This basically keeps the water from boiling over.
Always use caution when working around boiling water.
So cauliflower and cauliflower. You may want to check other sources like your state’s extension office.
Hold on to the cauliflower and cauliflower! Don’t let the green worms get the better of you this winter.
