Camps are a wonderful way to “get back to nature”. Thousands of people spend the night, the week, or even the week at a time exploring the forests and woodlands that make up this great nation of ours. If you’re a seasoned camper who loves to sleep under the stars, you probably already have everything you need to camp. But, if you’re “green” and have never camped before, you probably don’t have a clue what the basics are that you need. Don’t worry about running your local credit card. But in a pinch, or if you want to try camping first before spending a lot of money on supplies, just learn how to make homemade camping gear.
Basically you will want to take a tent, a sleeping bag, a lamp, some cooking utensils, a rain coat; and a vessel for carrying water. Place some medium-sized waterproof tarps, a long and short log, and a roll of heavy-duty twine or twine in the car, and you can make your own homemade tent once you get to camp.
When the time comes for your tent, set up two tarts on the ground side by side. Lift both corner ends and slide the long posts. Put the poft end deep in the mud. Do this again with the middle part of the tarp. Then raise the top of the homemade tent in the same way.
Now use lengths of string or braid to tie the grommets to the long springs. Short posts need to be used to secure the sides of the tent to the ground. Grab a handy rock and poles on the sides of the tent, one in the front, one in the middle, and one in the back. Use a rock to hammer down each log. Next, use several lengths of string or braid to tie the ropes on the tarps to the short poles. In order for your homemade camping gear to stand properly, you need to tie it with string or braid to pull the tarps taut. Use an additional string or braid and run on top screen. Tighten securely, so the top is completely closed.
What’s a sleeping bag besides a hundred bucks or more to lie on the bed with a pillow on the floor? You can easily make a homemade sleep before you leave your bag at your camp by using a comfortable bed. The size of the comforter should depend on how big you are. A queen-sized comforter, for example, can sleep two average-sized people.

You will be able to see a lot, like the darkness when you camp, in the light of the field. You still need a flashlight to see your way, especially when you “answer nature’s call” and take a short hike through the woods. Making your own homemade lantern can make a great cup of coffee. Poke several holes around the sides about two inches from the bottom up. Then the bottom inch of the coffee can be covered with petroleum jelly. The wood of the five votive candles in the jelly, and the next part of the household gear in the camp, is ready for light.
The petroleum jelly serves two purposes: it holds the votive candles in place. And when the candles burn in it, they will still burn brightly for several hours.
As for cooking utensils, old cups and pots will do nicely. You can even use the pan to make your morning coffee too! Just put that desired amount of soil in the coffee pot. Fill the amount of water, place the pan on the campfire. Boil water and tea for a few minutes. The longer you cook, the stronger the coffee will be. Finally, remove the pan from the heat and your coffee is ready. You will only need to discard the coffee grounds that are left at the bottom.
A bottle of milk or juice jugs this is well rinsed, a large part of the silent camping gear will carry water in Take two jugs and you will have a bowl for eating (just cut the milk to size), and for straining (cut the barrel and dig in it).
