If you have a small piece of property in the back of your house, then you can make an incredible water slide for your kids to use for their summer time blues. Building a water slide is also a great way for kids to come together and have a good time. Once you have your water slide built, you can have family or neighborhood cookouts and watch as all of the kids enjoy your great accomplishment. Just the smiles on their face will bring great joy to you.
The steps and tools in order to build your very own water slide are listed below.
Tools:
You will first need at least a 4 ply piece of plastic. You can buy a pretty good size roll at any about any hardware store nearby or at your local Wal-Mart. The rolls usually come in about 20 – 25 foot sections in length and about 4 – 5 foot sections in width. So you’re going to have plenty of plastic to play with if you want to go for the ultimate water slide. If you don’t want such a big water slide, you can easily cut the length down. I would suggest leaving the width as it is so the kids have plenty of room in width to slide so they won’t go flying off the edge as easily.
You will be needing scissors if you want to cut down the plastic to the desired length of your choosing.
You will be needing a good hose with a sprinkler that is capable of spraying a shower of water and not just a stream of water. A shower of water will ensure that their is water covering nearly every portion of the plastic as the children are sliding down to the bottom.
You will need stakes to tie down the plastic so that it doesn’t move as it’s being used.
You will be needing a hillside for the ultimate rush of the slide for the kids.
That’s pretty much all that you will be needing in order to prepare for making your water slide.
Instructions:
You will first clear out at least a 30 foot long strip with a 4 foot width down your hillside to ensure a non bumpy ride. Just clear it out and make sure there are no rocks or sticks sticking up to puncture your plastic or hurt your children as they’re sliding down.
You will then lay your strip of plastic down on the hillside that you have cleared out and steak it down about every 3 – 5 feet to ensure that it stays in a straight strip instead of bunching up.
You then need to hookup your sprinkler system and have a shower of water going down the plastic to ensure that your children have a pleasant and easy slide instead of being stuck in a dry section as they’re going down. Just make sure that all of at least the middle section of the plastic is wet.
The last step is to then send your kids along with whoever down the slide for the ultimate experience in fun.
Have a great rush !
