How to Make Floral Animal Centerpieces

Making floral animal centerpieces is really a lot of fun to do. It can be an especially beautiful arrangement when you use flowers to make the centerpiece. To get started making your floral animal centerpiece you will need the following items: three dozen carnations and some pieces of wire. You can find the wire at your local arts and craft store. You will also need some wire cutters as well. Remember that you will need to make this floral arrangement on the day that you need the animal centerpiece. This will help to ensure that your centerpiece stays as fresh as possible.

Start by taking the stems off of some of the flowers. You will want to leave the flowers for the body and face with some stems on them. About half of the flowers will need to still have the stems on them. To keep the flowers moist you can fill a large bowl with a very small amount of water. Then place the flowers on the top of the water, as you continue making your floral animal centerpiece. You will want to first decide what type of animal you plan on making. Draw a circle diagram. A puppy is usually the first animal that you should start with. You can begin with the ears. Take a rule and measure about five inches for the ears. Curl the wire into a C formation. Cut the wire at five inches and start by taking the wire and sticking it through the center of each of the flowers. Go very slowly so that you don’t damage the flowers. For the ears you will only need a few flowers. Three flowers will usually be more than enough since you will need to finish bending the wire. Twist the ends of the wire together and allow a small piece to hang down.

The same can be done for the second ear of the puppy. To make the face you will obviously need a large piece of wire to make a much larger circle. Usually about a foot of wire is perfect to make your puppy. Follow the same steps as above when it comes to putting the flowers on the wire. Be sure to leave the ends slightly exposed so that you can connect them. Now you can attach the ears to the head. Twist the two exposed ends from the ears with the side of the face circle. To finish the middle party of the face you will need a round medium sized Styrofoam ball. You can then place the flowers that have a small stem to them in the Styrofoam. Continue until the face is just about covered. For the eyes you can use buttons. Take a dab of glue on put it on the center of the button and place the button in the correct location. Make sure the buttons are large enough to be seen through the flowers. The same can be done for the nose. For the body you will also want to use a Styrofoam ball that is slightly larger. Attach it by using the wire to attach the body to the head. The same process above can be sued to put the flowers not eh body and to attach the tail. When you are all done you will have your very own floral animal arrangement, that can bused as a centerpiece.
