When I was planning my wedding years ago, I made my own wedding veil. The reason I decided to do it is the story itself.
I took a trip to England for a sales competition for the company I was working for at the time, which was an amazing experience. Since I was already in the province, I decided that it was really cool to go to France and buy my wedding dresses. present, if possible. So I added some holidays to my day trip and went to Paris on my own. The trade in Paris was really strong, but that’s another story. The last thing happened was that I could buy a beautiful gown. An elegant box with a short veil was seen to complement the gown beautifully in store.
The gown required some minor alterations, which were completed in two days. I was able to stuff the gown into a large suitcase and was on my way. You’ve lost your bags with the gown for a while, but that’s another thing too. Needless to say, the dress arrived at my doorstep after a few anxious days.
I once proudly showed my future mother-in-law a gown at home. My father-in-law was a trained tailor who taught tailoring for a time. Of course, she was amazed at my beautiful gown with its soft lace and lace trim. He marveled at the gown, but decided that it needed to be changed to bring it up to the standards of perfection. She and one of her friends, who is a sewing buddy, actually save the container and put it back together.
While we were wearing a delightful afternoon gown, I mentioned that I wasn’t sure about my hair choice. We agree that the screen will complement the traditional look of the room.
I went to two bridal shops and the price of simple veils was shocking. When I said this to my tailors, they agreed that I could easily make my veil. They told me it was super easy to make a hymena screen and I could do it too. They set an example, and I was on my way.
So that’s the story of why I made my own wedding veil. Here you can see that failure was not an option.
Making a wedding veil turned out to be so easy that I can’t believe that everyone doesn’t do it. Of course, they don’t know how easy it is. Naturally, it’s important to get the big day, but tulle is very forgiving as it creates a romantic cloud around your head.

When you plan to make a wedding veil, the first step is to decide what type and length of veil you want. The sails are of different lengths. You may want to visit a storefront and try on a few curtains to get an idea of what works best for you. Already visions of the Julie Andrews movie “The Sound of Music” filled my head. In the most elegant movie wedding scene, she had a train that went on forever. My only dress was a short train. I decided on a shorter version of the cathedral veil so that I had a veil that stretched behind me to the altar.
The veil can be attached with ribbon or comb. I purchased the wreath at a brand-name fabric store in Evanston, Illinois called Vogue Fabrics. If you live in the Chicago area, Vogue is a great store with a great variety of fabrics, many at great prices. Anapaestus was a section of the chamber with pre-made combs, or crowns. I chose one of the most beautiful crowns for $55, but I could have had one less expensive. This was several years ago, so I’m sure the prices are higher now.
Bridal veil combs are available at most fabric stores that I’ve seen for fabric and fabric stores for under $10. You can also just use a simple comb and stick it into your hair for under $1. Of course, crowns vary in price, just like anything else you buy, so I certainly loved my beautiful crown of pearls and crystals around my head.
After you decide what you want to cover up, you can purchase your tulle. Surprisingly, when you start looking at tulle, you may find, as I did, that not all tulle is made equal. It is very important to get the tulle wedding dress fabric as close as possible. It’s amazing how many shades of white there are. To contribute to the tulle dress, you can buy a rod or request a bundle. Buying a shirt will give you a better idea of how it will look on your dress. Once you’ve chosen your gown, you’ll need to buy everything at once. If you have to purchase more, you risk fabric from a different lot, and the shade is a little different.
I have seen tulle for less than $1 a rod, but better quality tulle is more expensive. The more expensive tulle is softer, less scratchy. Some tullies have a soft sheen, which I really loved. I will take my beloved soft. I bought Tulle six yards, which gave me 18 feet of fabric for about $12 (on sale).
You need a work space large enough to completely cast the fabric. and followed. If your table is not large enough, open a space in the clean floor. I used a pattern, but even if you don’t use a pattern, it’s easy to make a screen. In the pattern I used, the shape of the fabric was generally a large oval. You can also fold the tulle lengthwise, pin it together so it doesn’t shift, and cut the bottom end, going around the corners. You can leave the sides straight, the bottom just rounded, leaving the top end square. The square end will be the top of the veil that can still be gathered into the honeycomb.

After the tulle is cut, you can gather the tulle by using HIS collection on the straight-edge fabric and tying the tulle together. the crest is now ready to be attached.
You can either attach the screen directly to your crown, or to a separate 4-inch shuttle. It is convenient to connect to the shuttle so that you can pull the screen down to receive it, leaving the head on the head. If you use a comb, it should be big and heavy enough to hold the screen.
You attach the collected hair directly to the comb or crown and it is ready to be inserted into your hair.
I wanted to leave the tule edge unfinished for a slimmer look. You can finish the edges by rolling and sewing (like a scarf). To me it seems like unnecessary work to be done in the end.
You can also choose to decorate the body of the veil by sewing small pearls, crystals or rhinestones on the veil. I chose the simplicity of a simple veil, allowing the soft beauty of the dress to shine through.
My wedding veil turned out just fine and I doubt anyone would know it was homemade unless someone told me. I had attached the screen directly to the crown, which was the only thing I would have done differently. If I had attached to this great crest, and put on a separate crown, that I might hold the crown by removing the veil. I offered to take the screen, but I told my friend that I didn’t want to take it off, but I didn’t know what else to do with it, she solved the problem< /a>. She creatively gathered the veil and tied it in a looped knot around my waist. On impulse, I saw this big crocheted knot and kept the veil for the entire reception.
If you are planning a wedding and planning to make your own veil, I encourage you to go ahead. It is easy to create a beautiful screen. You will be able to have a sense of accomplishment to create the most beautiful veil for your wedding. If you haven’t tried this, I recommend getting a copy. The pattern I used is for each part of the screen. Although it’s easy to make a screen without a pattern, practice will give you confidence you might not have otherwise.
