Well if you do not know who Hannah Montana is, you can crawl out from under your rock any time now. She is big! Her concerts sell out in minutes world wide and girls are crazy about her. If you want to plan a Hannah Montana birthday party this year, you need to get creative! My goal is always the same, to create the WOW. I want to produce something new and different.
Hannah Montana is so popular that she does have all the party paper supplies but like every party, I say to skip them if you can. No one ever notices when you skip the pricey paper products and use solid colored ones instead. Of course, you must WOW people in other ways so they don’t notice they are eating off plain plates…ha.
Homemade is best and I am determined to teach my kids that in any way I can. So, if you can make a game, a cake, anything, do it. It is better and cheaper and more memorable. I remember the homemade touches in my life a lot more than anything bought. This party doesn’t have as many opportunities for homemade but we can do what we can. Like all of my party articles, I give you more ideas than you can use, but you can pick and choose and change things to fit your needs.
Invitation
-Microphone Shaped. You can use a stencil or make it up yourself. You can use glitter or keep it simple. Kids will love getting a cardboard microphone decked out with the party info on it.
-Echo Microphone. You can send each child an echo microphone (those plastic cheap microphones from dollar stores that makes your voice echo) with all the information on it. You can simply print out the information with your printer, cut it to size and glue stick it to the side of the microphone. You can add gems and glitter to the microphone if you like. This works especially well if you are hand delivering the invitation.
-Hannah Montana Invites. You can take a picture of your darling dressed up as Hannah Montana and put that on a computer generated invitation.
– Fun Fur. You could send a tiny piece of fun fur (it looks like a miniature boa) along with any paper invitation that you create. It will get the girls excited to dress up at the party.
-Concert Tickets. My favorite idea for a Hannah Montana invitation is to replicate a concert ticket and send it to each guest. You could still add all the party information to it.
-Cd’s. You could send a burned copy of Hannah Montana music and include a paper invitation in the envelope or add it to the actual Cd.
Decorations
Boy, is the sky the limit here! There are so many things you could do. I recommend that you go another route like POP STAR, ROCK STAR, BLING, or DIVA and then buy stuff that goes along with those themes to add to your few Hannah Montana items. You will save a lot of money because anything Hannah Montana is so expensive right now. Here are a few ideas on how to decorate.
– Hang inflatable guitars (Oriental Trading sells them) from the ceiling.
– Put Aluminum foil over stars and put them everywhere! You can use large ones (made with cardboard and foil) to go under bowls of snacks, to hang in the air, to use as signs with the birthday girl’s name on them. You can add star confetti everywhere too.
-Set up a dress up area with Hannah wigs, shiny clothes, boas, make-up etc. This not only serves as a decoration but an activity. You could put a coat tree up to hang the clothing and accessories on. A free standing mirror would be cute too.
-Use your computer to print pics of your birthday girl for signs.
– Copy and paste Hannah Montana images form the web and cut them out to add to dollar store banners that are 4-5 dollars cheaper than Hannah Montana ones.
– Use a disco ball and lower lights for a concert feel.
– Set up a small stage and throw a piece of material over it for the kids to sing and dance on.
– Add a real microphone stand to the stage or anywhere in the party.
Cake
-You can buy a Hannah Montana edible image to put on your homemade cake much cheaper than buying the whole pre-made cake.
– You could make an I-pod, cell phone, star, guitar or microphone shaped cake with a little practice.
– You could make cupcakes inside ice cream cones (you make the box cake mix just like the directions for cupcakes, except only fill the cones 1/2 full) and they look like microphones. They look like microphone naturally, just add icing and special touches.
-You could make a sheet cake and add Hannah Montana toys to it.
Games and Activities
Again, this is endless so I will give you a couple more creative ideas for this. Keep in mind, that you could do anything that involves performing, dressing up, talking on the phone etc.
-Karaoke or singing. This is a must. Have the kids sing one way or another.
– Jewelry making. The kids can add “bling” to anything you can find cheap. You can add gems and glitter to any dollar store bracelets etc. My friend told me that you can buy kits at Walmart to make Rock Star bracelets.
– Design guitars. These would be great fun. You can buy plain white guitars from Oriental Trading. You can set out tons of supplies like glitter, gems, markers, crayons, ribbon, glue, paper etc. You can put out anything you have.
– Hannah Montana game. You can copy and paste Hannah Montana from the web and print her out and play a game with her. Have “pin the wig on Hannah” , “pin the guitar on Hannah”, anything would work. Be sure and use a blindfold with a rock star feel or one that is blinged out.
-Decorate Dog Tags. Oriental Trading has plain dog tags that you can add gems to. They are fun to make and easy for an older crowd.
-Makeovers. The premise behind the Hannah Montana show is that Miley has to turn into Hannah Montana for her concerts. You could do Hannah Montana makeovers too.
-Photo Shoot. You could do a fancy photo shoot after the makeovers and let the girls wear boas, wigs and the like to get their photos taken. If they made the guitars, above, they could “play” those for the photos as well.
-Dance contest. Have them do a dance contest on your stage.
Goodie Bag Party Favors
You could do anything Rock Star related instead of buying Hannah Montana party favors that are outrageously expensive. Here is a list of some ideas to use as parting favors.
-Echo microphones
-Lip gloss or any make-up
– Boas
– Hannah Montana burned Cd’s
-Jewelry
-Nail Polish
-Rock Star Light up Pins (Oriental Trading has these for $10 for 12)
– Framed picture. You can give them a framed picture of their earlier photo shoot if you can print them fast enough. If not, you could add them to your thank you card later.
-T-shirts rolled up and tied with a glittery tie. You can make these with rhinestones that you glue on. You could put “Diva” in light colored stones on a black t-shirt.
A Hannah Montana party really is an easy one to do on a budget. You have so many other themes you could go with and still add a few Hannah Montana products here or there. Have fun with it and save anything you can to use at your next party. If something looks like it will cost you too much, move on to another idea. Your possibilities are endless. Good luck planning!
