People seem to move on an almost daily basis, but what if it is someone very close to you? Well then I would highly recommend that you give them a going away, or moving party. These parties are very easy to plan, and you can always add your own unique twist to it. The first thing that you will have to do is find out, when they are going to be moving. You will also need to check and see what weekend they have available. Since most people who are planning to move have a lot to do, it is usually best if you allow yourself plenty of time to get all of the needed information.
Once you find a date that works best for them you can begin your party arrangements. Next you will want to pick your theme. If they are moving during the summer months, you may want to have a barbecue party, or maybe even a summer luau. If they are moving during the winter time you will have to find a place to rent, or if you know someone who has a large enough house you could have the party their. When it comes to the theme you need to really try and think of something they would enjoy. Don’t be too concerned about your guest, the party is not for them.
Once you have chosen a theme and found a location it is time to get those invitations ready to mail out. When planning a moving party the easiest and most convenient way to make invitations is just to print up some flyer’s. You can search online for some unique flyer ideas. There are also some websites that offer free designs that you can download. Or if you choose to you can buy the party paper at your local office supply store. They usually have a lot of options for you to choose from. For more of a unique touch try adding a picture of the couple that is planning to move on the flyer invitation. Make sure you save one for the guest of honor. You can put it in an envelope with a card and give it to them at the party. Most people love to have a copy of the invitation for their scrapbooks.
Now it is time to start planning the food and entertainment. When it comes to the food, it really depends on the type of theme that you are having. For example if you have decided on a barbecue style theme then your menu is really going to be pretty simple, burgers, chicken and hot dogs of course. Try to have food that your guest of honor will enjoy. It will probably be a lot easier to have everyone bring a dish, rather than putting the entire burden on one person. Now comes the entertainment, which is usually the most fun. What you need to do is see if any of the people who plan on attending have any special talents that would make good entertainment. Such as singing, dancing, etc. A really good idea would be to get a group of young children together and see if they can perform an act together. Any family is sure to enjoy that. Of course this depends on the guests of honor. Just remember to try and keep things as simple as possible, and remember it’s a party so have fun.
