How to Use Chakra Meditation to Awaken Your Energy

Many people have discovered the benefits of meditation in general. It helps to lower the blood pressure, and can relieve stress and hypertension. Additionally, meditation can help you prepare your mind for the day, leaving you better able to think alertly and absorb new information. But there is more than one way to meditate. Different meditation techniques can help different people achieve different results. And one of these techniques is chakra meditation.

Chakra meditation makes use of the energy that flows around us, through us, and between us and the rest of the universe. Humans, animals, plants, and space itself pulses with energy. And within our own bodies, there are reserves of energy that can be awakened and then tapped to help you become more aware of your body and its capabilities. Chakra meditation focuses on each of the body’s seven main energy focal points (there are 12 chakras altogether). In this type of meditation, you awaken each energy point one at a time, feeling the energy as it moves up through your body. Meditation on the charkas can help you relax, enhance your physical senses, and get ready to greet the day, creating the energy you need to be more productive. It can also help you prepare yourself for astral projection. Even if you do not believe in such projections, meditation is a great way to enjoy “alone time,” and reduce the stress in your life.

There are two ways to meditate on the chakras as foci. The first is a simple meditation that can be done so long as you know the names (no particular mantra is needed). The seven chakras are as follows in order from the bottom of the body to the top: Muladhara (base of the spine), Svadhisthana (between the two pelvis bones), Manioura (at the solar plexus), Anahata (level with the heart), Vishudda (the throat), Ajna (at the third eye), and the Sahasrara (crown of the head). Each chakra is located along the spine. Focus briefly on each chakra and think its name in your head. Then do it in reverse order, starting at the top if you wish. As a completion, say three OM mantras.

The second chakra meditation is more advanced than the first. You either visualize the chakra’s symbol or its color. There are also individual chants for each chakra. Say each chakra’s chant four times. As before, start at the bottom of the body. This time, however, there is no reverse order. While saying the chant, visualize the symbol or color. When you have finished all of the mantras, lie down with your arms outspread and slowly become aware of your body, also allowing the body to become infused with its own energy.

All meditation requires slow, deliberate breathing through the nose. You should be comfortable and relaxed, and your spine should be in proper alignment (sit with good posture). All of the seven chakras are located on the spine, the body’s main energy channel. When you focus on each location you should make sure the place you are focusing on lies upon your spine and at the proper height.

You can enjoy a deeper connection with yourself and better organize your day when you awaken your energy. Additionally, after a few weeks, you will feel calmer and more relaxed, as well as enjoy increased energy and a more alert mental state.
