The HP Solution Center is a software program that allows you to control and manage files from your HP printer, scanner and camera from a single interface. The HP Solution Center comes with many new Hewlett Packard devices and can also be downloaded from the HP website. Most aspects of using the HP Solution Center are simple and intuitive. However, certain features of the software may be challenging for certain people to use. Learning to properly configure and use these features will help you to use the HP Solution Center more effectively and efficiently.
Using the HP Solution Center With a Printer
To get started printing with the HP Solution Center, click the “Print” tab. Select “Settings,” “Print Settings” and “Printer Settings” to open your HP printer’s configuration program. From here, you can choose how your printer functions by default. Choose the economy or draft setting to save on ink during everyday printing. However, if you are printing photographs or documents for a presentation, choose the highest quality print setting for your printer model. When printing letters and other documents, choose “Portrait” orientation. “Landscape” is the right choice if the document is wider than it is tall.
You can check the ink levels on your HP printer by selecting “Settings,” “Print Settings” and “Printer Toolbox.” Select the “Services” tab. Here, you will see several HP printer maintenance options. You can print a diagnostic page, align or clean the printer’s print heads, access advanced printer configuration options or open a report about your printer in your browser.
Using the HP Solution Center With a Scanner
Select the “Scanner” tab. Select “Settings,” “Scan Settings” and “Button Settings.” Then select each scanning button individually. You can set the HP Solution Center to perform a certain function each time you scan a document, picture or slide. By default, the HP Solution Center will open the HP Image Zone each time you scan an item. However, you can select to open another image processing program such as Photoshop or you can automatically save your scanned document as a file on your hard drive. You can also choose to send your scanned file directly to your printer, email program or clipboard. In most cases, the “Save to File” option is the best one, since it saves the files to your hard drive and allows you to open your image processing program when you’re ready to edit them.
Using the HP Solution Center With a Digital Camera
To download pictures from your HP digital camera, connect the camera to the computer and turn it on. Click the “Camera” tab, then click “HP Image Zone.” Select “Get Images” and then “From Camera/Card.” Choose your camera from the drop-down list. Select “Start Transfer” or “Start Unload.” Within the HP Image Zone, select the image you’d like to process and click “Edit.” Click “Save As” when you’re finished and give the image a new file name.
