Finding a job that we can do at home is almost “Mission Impossible.” Working from home offers are mostly scams or jobs that require an investment, or a specific certification. Looking for a job that allowed me to stay at home giving me money and freedom at the same time, I was ready to lose hope, when I found an advertisment in a newspaper that was offering positions for sex phone operators. Well, I thought, what are the requirements? How this works? Will I be able to do something like this?
After thinking about it and discussing it with my husband, I called the company and asked about the job. I was surprised about the professionalism and kindness of the person who was answered my questions.

The first thing they cleared with me was that I wouldn’t receive any calls to my personal phone number. The customers call to the company number, and they are answered by an automated answering machine that asks for the credit card numbers and offers a number of options, based in the user’s sexual preferences. The company will transfer the calls to the operators, who will be informed by a machine of the option the customer prefers. The customers’ options will determinate the way the operator will talk to them , and they go from heterosexuals, lesbians or gays, fetish, kinks, sado, masochism, sadomasochism or transsexual. The calls are monitored, and conversations about drugs, sex with minors or illegal questions are not permitted, and the operators have instructions to avoid them.
The base of the erotic phones business is to make the phone calls the longer as possible, because the company makes money by the minute, as well as the operator. A mentor was assigned to me, to train me and assist me in any question I may have. She explained to me how I should create a fictitious character and write a screenplay to guide me during the calls. This job is basically acting, and it is easier to do it with the security blanket of a screenplay, and it allows the operator to get more impersonal and more unattached to the customers. The operator will choose a name, and she will make up a little story to tell the client to break the initial ice and initiate the conversation. There are ways to make the conversation longer, which is more money. The first way is to ask questions, as the customer’s name, their location, their occupation or what they are doing in the moment of the call. That will allow the operator to talk about her own character, and it is here where the screenplay becomes handy. When she stretched the little chat to the maximum, it is time to go into more serious business, the sexual part. The operator will ask what the customer wants to do, or what he wants to talk about, and she will follow him, taking time and trying to slow down the customer’s eagerness.
It is important to start gradually, like pretending a strip tease, and go from there. The customer will mark the rhythm but the operator must remain in control, to make the call longer. If the customer is satisfied, he will call again and he will ask for a specific operator. This will make much easier the job, because having a list of frequent clients makes the income steadier. It is easier also to adjust the operator’s performance to a known customer.
I started working from nine I the evening to one or two in the morning. I locked myself my computer room, to have complete privacy, and my children were already in bed. I logged in the computer and I started receiving calls immediately. It went on without interruption until two in the mooring. I received an initial two cents per minute, and three in calls that went over twenty minutes. There are bonuses after reaching large amounts of minutes, as well. I received punctually my checks every two Fridays, without any problem, and I found myself making around 1.000 dollars every two weeks, and I took the job in a very relaxing way, working the nights I wanted and the amount of hours I wanted, but I could make much more money with it with more dedication.
I left the erotic phone business when I was offered a day job that I always was interested in. I found myself way to tired to work in the sex phone at nights, so I stopped doing it.
It is really not hard at all working as an erotic phone operator. It takes imagination, and being able to divide you and create a totally separated character and perform using it. After all, you don’t see anybody’s faces, and anybody sees you, all you do is talk in the phone. It can be good money, and the only downside may be to be busy at nights, in a time when you may want be sitting in front of the TV watching your favorite shows. It is important to choose carefully the sex phone company we will work for, we should ask the way they will connect us to the customers, and how much they will pay us. Some companies use tricks to pay the operators less, so we should be very informed before we sign any contract, and read every part of them. We should approach first the big companies, the more popular ones and with bigger advertising. And we should check several before choose one, and pick the one that offers training and support, and where we feel more comfortable.
