Is it Socially Irresponsible to Buy an Apple IPhone or IPad?

With the revelation that Apple has broken child labor laws in factories, according to msnbc, forcing women and children to work long hours in their factories so rich teenagers can buy their i-toys and gadgets. ….is the company responsible for buying one for your kid? Adding to the problem, according to cnn , Apple is now being accused by the US government of price-fixing.

Apple has the largest cash reserves of any company in the world, so why don’t they take responsibility for fair wages, so that their workers in China factories are paid and treated fairly? When the news broke, there was no real reaction or concern from Apple. After all, the hipster doofus crowd seems ok with it: They buy gadgets, apps, and fashion, like on the hook and down. Apple Cult (lol, I mean Apple Community) seems more loyal than ever… blind faith and all.

Apple fell on hard times in the 80s and 90s, at one point almost going bankrupt, before being saved by Bill Gates, who invested a ton of money in Apple. Apple’s operating system was informal, and the software was always a year after the Windows PC version. They brought up Steve Jobs, some say the greatest man since Bernie Madoff, and they started selling iPods to teenagers. Suddenly they were in profit. It comes with both iPhone and iPad. Blackberry (RIM) already had a niche market, so Apple went for teenagers. They sold slick iPhones to girls, and used high school peer pressure ads to convince them they “had it” was cool. Apple became the one cheerleader everyone disliked in high school. But the money was…scratched.

By 2012, Apple’s war chest was bigger than any other company, even bigger then Mobile Exxon. You can’t beat “big oil” without breaking some rules. We’ve always thought of the high-priced i-products that filled their coffers (after all, a Samsung Android phone is less than ” and has more functionality, including flash!) It turns out many questions about Apple’s social responsibility in the world. They don’t seem to care about the “poor” use and abuse to the max. Can you really buy your kid an iPhone?

According to Gawker‘s Ryan Tate: “Apple’s success was literally built on the backs of Chinese workers, many of them children and all of them enduring long shifts and a barrage of cruel punishments. It’s wrong.”

Do you stand up for America, Joe Apple?

Here’s an idea for Apple: Spend money supporting Americans! You have a lot of money – a ton of money! Open factories in the United States and put Americans to work manufacturing your products, for fair wages ! I don’t bet on that idea far from the board. By giving up 2% of their profits to support America, well, it’s no different than Apple. Rotten apples do not roll at all.

Apple doesn’t play well with others.

You’ll have to decide for yourself if sleeping through the night, knowing a teenager’s phone is helping make the world a darker place. No one can decide but you. I have already avoided Apple products when I saw how poorly they work and how incompatible they are with the rest of the technology. My friends need 2 apps, a special hook and a license from 3 Senators before they can move i-song from their iphone to laptop or ipod. I can easily move songs around from any PC to my android phone in seconds. Easy. “It just works!” Ironically, Apple can no longer use the slogan.

Greed has been Apple’s motto for years. Did they donate any money to charity? Bill Porta and LG did it, but …. Does Apple have it? Always?

Some of us care about more than money…at some point, don’t we?
