I have a big butt. My booty happens to be what I call a “two-hander” and because of this, I often have trouble finding jeans that not only fit but also flatter. There are certain styles of jeans that will flatter a big butt, but the trick is knowing what to look for in jeans.
Big Butt Jeans: Rise
Jeans today come in low-rise, mid-rise and “sits at natural waist.” I completely avoid low-rise jeans because I prefer not to play peekaboo with the general public. Mid-rise jeans, though, are a very good choice for ladies like me who are more blessed and curvy in the rear area.
Mid-rise jeans are also great for petite women (like me – big butt, short package) who have a generous bottom because this style appears to lengthen your torso. I always choose mid-rise jeans because they are more comfortable and flattering and the waist placement is good for “holding in” the curves without gapping and offering a bit of plumber’s crack.
Big Butt Jeans: Pockets
Back pockets draw the eye straight to the butt, so it’s important to choose wisely. Avoid pocket flaps and buttons or extreme embellishments and decorations as these will give too much unwanted emphasis to the butt. Choose jeans with higher set pockets to give the impression of a higher or lifted rear and draw the eye toward the top of the butt. This is a good trick to make a sagging bottom appear more perky.
Avoid jeans with no back pockets or decorations of any kind – these will give the impression of a wide expanse and a butt that is much larger than it really is. In short, these jeans make a big butt look even bigger.
Big Butt Jeans: Color
Opt for dark colors for your jeans when you have a large butt. The dark color is more flattering and de-emphasizes your size.
Big Butt Jeans: Wide Butt
Avoid wide-leg jeans as they will cling to the widest point on your legs (which is the top of the thigh) making you look bigger than you really are. If you have a wide butt. go for straight leg or boot cut jeans. Also choose close set pockets, which will draw the eye to the center of the butt instead of focusing on the bootylicious width.
Big Butt Jeans: Miscellaneous
Stretch jeans will allow the natural curves to show and will emphasize your curves without sagging.
If you have a triangle butt – which means the widest part is where your thighs meet your butt, then you should opt for heavyweight denim with just a little bit of stretch to give the best impression.
Does your butt hang low? Go for slim fit jeans that will make your legs look longer and give the impression of a higher butt. Again, choosing higher set pockets will also give the impression of a higher butt which is good for a sagging rear.
Choosing jeans that fit and flatter may seem like a waste of time, but when you are comfortable in your clothing and feel attractive, it can make a big difference in your day and in your outlook. So, big butt ladies – flaunt what ya got and go for the jeans that emphasize your asset!
