Some build stores of a larger size than those of the poor. As of the time of this writing, it is the first of September and Jessica is already in London advertising her winter 2006 plus size fashion line. So what do they store?
Sleeves and Tops
The coming year promises to be filled with oversized sweaters, a la 1980s. Jessica London capitalizes on this trench, but adds a nice touch to keep it classy. Their bark adds a shimmering sparkle, and a belt buckle to highlight the shape of an hourglass (or one where it can’t be done otherwise). If you’re looking for a one-piece plus size in a variety of colors, consider the super fur, which is made with a faux fur pouch and retails for an affordable $24. Perhaps Jessica London’s most versatile plus-size top this winter is the lace-up top, which has three-quarter sleeves and comes in a variety of textures and colors. This top can be worn over pants like a shirt or under a dress shirt without being bulky.
Plus Size Basics
For plus size basics, Jessica London is not usually an economical choice. your But this winter, Jessica London offers a cinch-neck knit top for $19 that has tons of potential daily wear. Three-quarter sleeves make it an easy choice for petite, average, and large sizes. And the stretch fabric makes it unlikely to shrink. Also, their plus size jeans are trending within the affordable realm, under $40. These plus size jeans have a particularly nice touch, as they are flat in the front with a scooped hem – very slimming, and they come in a nice dark wash. But the cotton/spandex denim is heavier than you’d expect from plus-size women – especially with the ramie blends that are taking over the market. Jessica London rethinks.
Best of all when it comes to plus size basics, Jessica London’s new gabardine bi-breasted trousers. For those who find the most annoying bulk affordable bottoms that flatter their figure and are still very comfortable, these are by far the most flattering you will find of the season. Imagine: no wrinkles, stretched, flowing with a completely flat front, bird fly and a contoured belt. It comes in three silhouettes, including flare leg, straight leg and gaucho.
Jackets and Outerwear
One unexpected plus size offering from Jessica London this winter is French. A terry jacket, a softer alternative to a wool blazer. The neck is a little thin in size, but the color is wide. It could just help give your plus size outfit a professional look without adding bulk or discomfort. Jessica London offers some excellent plus size outerwear options this winter, including a statement red leather blazer. This plus size leather blazer has a three-button front, pockets at the top, and a queen-size top, and it’s a steal at less than $90. Professional pants look cool and modern jeans.
Jessica London also offers the obligatory plus size jean jacket, but it’s nothing special. There is no room for this plus size jean jacket and pocket square as ideal. However, it comes in a wide range of colors and sells for under $40, as a plus. for at this time they omit the consideration of the width of the calf and the size of the figures. And for those Jessica London boots that they sell as “extra long,” they don’t give calf measurements. (This was also true when I called and asked Jessica to speak to the London office). But Jessica London offers one pair of extra-wide boots that have the measurements: it fits up to an 18″ calf, and it has an inch heel. A chunky heel, there was no reason. This will go high, but the boot has some narrative to complement it.
Totally solid winter plus size collection by Jessica London, but without any real peeps.
