In the beginning of February 2008, my husband and I went to Cleveland for a weekend away from the kids. We needed a get-away; we needed some rest and relaxation time. The first night there, we were shocked to see how dead the downtown area of Cleveland, Ohio, was. We never imagined that it held the best Steakhouse ever.
After looking through the neighbor hood book the hotel provided countless times we saw this little ad for a steakhouse right around the corner, John Q’s Steakhouse. My husband called to make reservations. We arrived at 8 pm and we were greeted by a very friendly, well dressed hostess. She said “Sharer party of two?”
Yes – How did she know that? Anyway we were seated at what I thought to be the best table in the restaurant, but after looking around they were all good. Our waiter greeted up very shortly after, presented us with a wine list and told us his name. We asked for a few minutes. When he returned he was just as polite as the first time. Did you decide? Yes we will have the house wine. We looked at the menu in awe. I just couldn’t decide it all sounded so good, and the smells of the restaurant were making me even hungrier. After deciding on the surf and turf for myself as always my husband went for the prime rib. Not too long after we ordered I was presented with a butter dish, it had a tea light candle heating the butter.
“OK,” I thought. “This looks good already, and it’s just butter!” Our waiter brought our food out and first asked if I would like him to crack the lobster shell for me. I never had anyone do that for me before. He brought my plate back and it still looked good. Now I am not much of a prime rib person because I like my red meat well done, but my husband’s prime rib actually looked good. There was little fat which as you might know prime rib normally has a lot of fat. My steak was done to absolute perfection. Once we ate our dinner there was no room left for desert although it looked really good, too.
There aren’t words for how good the dinner was. The service, the food, and the atmosphere every thing was just perfect. The bill was given to my husband and I’ll tell you I was shocked at the amount of the bill. I was expecting it to be more! As we were leaving I noticed the manager standing at the hostess booth and I just had to let him know how wonderful the restaurant was. We chatted for a few minutes and my husband and I were on our way. I have to say I would recommend this restaurant to any one. That dinner had made our weekend. So here is my review of this restaurant. I hope that if you are even in the Cleveland area you give it a try. Don’t worry about dress some people were dressy casual some just casual. We were in jeans I wore a nice shirt, he was in a polo. I have to say out of a 1 to 5 scale this restaurant got a 6!
