Armed forces are government-sponsored defense, combat forces and organizations. They exist to promote the foreign and domestic policies of their governing body.
I have been associated with all kinds of weapons in some way throughout my life. My father was in the Navy and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. The lieutenant himself retired after 26 years of service. My father was a Marine and retired colonel with 28 years of service. My husband is active duty Air Force and my brother is active duty Army.
When you decide you want to join the military for your country, there are several things to consider about which branch to join. Maybe you want to join a branch because you have a relative or a friend. Or maybe one branch has more to offer you than another. Here are some notes about each branch to help you decide which one to join.

The United States Air Force or USAF is considered part of the Air Force. The Air Force was part of the Army (then Army-Air Force) until September 18, 1847, when it became its own part.
Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) is 6 weeks long and takes place at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio , Texas. From October 2007, BMT will be 8 weeks long. After you complete the BMT, you will transfer to your Technical School, which is always the job you are qualified and selected for. School schemes can vary in length and location.
The Air Force will only award bonuses for a small selection of jobs that are going through reduction-in-force (RIF) at this time. This is going to reduce the number of obstacles they start to cut and also cut some active role members. You need to achieve a certain rating on your Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test (ASVAB) to be accepted into the Air Force.
When most people think of the Air Force, they think of all pilots. that is a fallacy. Only 10% of Air Force members are pilots. There are hundreds of other jobs for Air Force personnel. From mechanical works to base works lab/a>.
For benefits you will receive a salary, basic salary if you are single, Basic Housing Allowance if you are married. Living expenses, including utilities and maintenance, are for members of the Air Force who prefer to live on base housing/apartments. You will receive 30 paid days per year. If you want to serve for 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, 12 years you can according to your contract. Or make a career and serve 20 years and retire with full benefits. The Air Force has over 64 bases in the continental US and over 20 locations in other countries. So you have a wide range of possibilities to set yourself up.

Army
The United States Army is the largest branch of the United States military. It was formed on June 3, 1784.
Army Basic Combat Training or BCT is 9 weeks long. There are five different locations across the US for the BCT, including Fort Benning in Georgia, Fort Jackson in South Carolina, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, Fort Sill in Oklahoma and Fort Knox in Kentucky. After you complete the BCT, proceed to Advanced Individual Training or AIT for your specific military job or MOS. The location of these also varies depending on the MOS. There are many different jobs you can have in the Army.
For bonuses, active duty recruits may be eligible for joint bonuses of up to $40,000. This may depend on the time you join, the job you call and the contract you sign.
For benefits you will receive a salary, basic salary if you are single, Basic Housing Allowance if you are married. Living expenses, including utilities and maintenance, are covered for army members who prefer to live in housing/apartments. Soldiers assigned to the U.S. mainland are assigned expenses and overseas expenses are paid as a living allowance. You will also receive clothing allowances to help pay for your clothes. Sailors
The United States Marine Corps or USMC was formed in November 1775. They are often called Devil Dogs; Jarheads, Leathernecks, the best of the best Sailors. They are the first and the last.
Marine Corps boot camps are held at Marine Corps Recruit Depot or MCRD San Diego or Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, in Beaufort, South Carolina. USMC boot camp is 13 weeks long and the longest of all US branches. After boot camp, attend infantry training school at Camp Geiger or Camp Pendleton. If you are an infantryman, you will begin Military Occupational Specialty or MOS training following infantry school.

Living expenses, including utilities and maintenance, are covered for USMC members who choose to live in on-base housing/apartments. Navy boot camp or Recruit Training Command (RTC) is located in Great Lakes, Illinois and is 8 weeks long. After RTC you will transfer to technical training or “A” School. There are many choices in class. It is not in the ships!
