When I can afford it, I like to buy kitchen utensils. KitchenAid is very expensive at my local supermarket, but they also have a pair for one on special every other month – and that’s when I stock up.
This KitchenAid spatula is a heavy-duty tool that should last forever. It’s 11″ long, and mostly black with some chrome on the handle. It proudly displays the round Chrome KitchenAid craft logo on the top of the sign. There’s also a 1/2″ hole so you can hang it up if you wear it. I want your utensils to sit in the drawer.
Another disadvantage of this spatula is that it is such a heavy duty. The width of the handle is 1″, and it is completely round (and hollow on the inside). This makes for a heavy container if you like to store it in a container that sits on top of your shelf. I use this for some of my utensils, but a few are too big and take up too much space. , such as this KitchenAid spatula. On the other hand, the large handle is great for easy grip, especially if you have arthritis in your hands.
The 3 1/2″ x 2″ head is curved perfectly so that every drop of cake batter (or whatever you’re cooking) from the bowl There won’t be much left for the kids (or you) to lick!!

Using a Kitchen Spatula
I used to have a bag full of melted spatulas. Have you ever touched your plastic spatula to a hot pot, only to be followed by the dreaded streak of melting on the handle? I have, several times. I also had spatulas that melted on me while cooking. (I know, they were pretty cheap!). The KitchenAid grill portion of this spatula is made of silicone, and the handle is a very hard plastic, and neither of them will melt. I’ve had this for about a year and now it looks as nice as the day I bought it!
Another annoying thing about spatulas is that when they’re gooey (when you’re cooking with a ram or whatever) and you need to sit them down, they get messy all over the counter. Spades with narrow flat handles are best known for this. Since the handle of the KitchenAid is so thick (remember the grip on my utensil holder?) the silicone mat keeps the part from touching the counter. This message prevents clean ups.
The silicone mat is quite flexible and easy to use, and trust me, the food won’t stick! A hard-boiled egg is especially easy to clean, and if you leave an egg in the dishwasher and then put it in the dishwasher, sometimes it comes out with a hard-boiled egg. This won’t happen with the KitchenAid, because the silicone scraper really does an excellent job of letting the food slide right off, and most of the time I don’t even rinse it before it gets stuck in the dishwasher.
One last beef about cheap spatulas. I had a problem with the handle sliding off my head! When that happens, it’s really irritating, and I have to get my hands on the message at the same time. The KitchenAid seems to be a constant one – I can’t even lift my head from the handle if I try! This is really well done.
Final Thoughts
I firmly believe that old saying is what you are asking for. KitchenAid is more expensive than some other brands, but I don’t hesitate to pay extra money for good quality work I can’t imagine wearing this spatula on myself.
