The Lily Festival was started in 1992 in Rockbridge by Bobbi and Bruce Bishop. In his house with his 5 craftsmen they would exhibit their work and gardens for the bishop to see. Somehow this festival drew enough crowds to continue. Over 8,000 people attended Lily last year. The artist exhibiting their work has grown to include over 75 local artists. You can purchase plants and gardening skills get advice from the OSU Master Gardener at the Lily Festival. Local Music talent including Appalachian Blue Grass Music, and ukuleles are provided.
All the processes of The Lily fest go towards scholarships. The event is open to the public asking for donations. It is very nice that it is a small festival. Everyone has limitations and it can be a challenge. No care is allowed on the premises, and I cannot recommend it to children. Neither children’s events and festivals are definitely more adult oriented.
I got the most venerable green house and bamboo footprints. The premises cover three acres and through gardens you will see small ponds, waterfalls and an enviable art collection. The grounds are well guarded. This holiday brand only one food vendor is Annie Cheesecake based in Lancaster Ohio. I recommend you try their Buckeye Cheesecake it’s amazing! They offer amazing food, don’t expect roasts or anything like that!
You can walk through the entire system and visit the vendors in a matter of 1 hour or maybe 2 hours if you stay. It’s a beautiful way to get out and experience the Hocking Hills. The bishops really turned this small gathering into a wonderful event! If you enjoy sales selling, it adds another element to your trip to the Lily Festival. All the neighbors put on yard sales in early July and you can find some nice bargains here. .
The journey is very easy, you will be able to find the adventure without any trouble. You will notice signs on the way to lead you. Simply take State Route 180 from 33. Exit 180 for about 10 miles. Turn onto Big Cola Road, follow the signs, then turn onto Little Cola Road and follow it for about 7 miles. The road is muddy so use caution!

If Annie’s Cheesecake wasn’t what you had in mind for lunch, I recommend you stop by the South Perry Carryout. The owners are open every day except for the holidays. You can buy beer and wine, and they also have a grocery and deli. The Texas Tenderloin is fantastic. they are like cheesybread sticks.
In Laurelville you can experience small town life. Visit Bower & Subsidiary Fruit Company for refreshing Lake Cider Slushy. It is also worth visiting Dollar. The people in Laurelville are nice and friendly, and life moves at a slower pace. On Fridays and Saturdays they offer a flea market where you can get an incredible bargain!
