Make an Aromatic Red Cedar Wreath for Holiday Gift Giving

Do you have someone on your gift-giving spree who loves wreaths and scented items? If so, you would like to crown that person with an aromatic red cedar. From my experience, wreaths also make great gifts for animal lovers at logo manufacturing company. They tend to act very well. If you don’t have such a company in your area, red cedar twigs are also sold in feed stores, petpet supply stores, pet farms and select craft shops. You’ll also need a hot glue gun, clear brown glue, U-shaped florist’s nails and a straw to form the crown. The size of your crown will determine how much maintenance you need. In general, 2,500 cubic inches of red cedar shavings will be enough to cover a 12 inch crown base straw.

Prepare Space Work

The red cedar, smelling of everything that once was your crown, making supplies with your hand, Erect the space of your work. Choose an area that has good lighting and a place where the crown can sit quietly during the drying process.

Forming the Crown

Begin making the wreath by adding thin red cedar sprigs to the wreath in the form of straw. Personally, I use a hot glue gun to apply the initial layers of crowns and then apply U-shaped florist clips with subsequent layers. I find that it works better my way. However, you could choose to use U-shaped florist’s sticks or just a hot glue gun to shape the red cedar. The choice is yours. Either way, you need to keep adding cedar branches after layer of cedar until you are happy with the fullness of the crown.

Meets the End

Once you have attached the red cedar branches to the straw wreath form, you may want to think about adding a few ornaments. From experience, crowns can be decorated in several ways. First, you could add a festive bow. I have also had success decorating crowns with felt, and small stuffed toys. I usually use those types of jewelry when I make wreaths for animal loving friends and family. Finally, you may also want to consider packing a crown molding with the crown. This way, the recipient of the gift will be able to comfortably wear his crown right away.
