When Maria Shomon first noticed the signs of weight gain, fatigue and depression in 1995, she wasn’t sure what she could do. He made an appointment and his doctor needed blood tests to determine the cause. When the blood test came back positive for hypothyroidism, she was informed that she should take the rest of the medication. His life and affairs returned to normal.
Like many patients who are diagnosed with hypothyroidism, the disease was not known and all they needed to know about it was the sometimes debilitating symptoms. She was surprised to find little information about hypothyroidism, which led her to do her own research and write several books a> to eventually help thousands of patients. to help them learn not only to deal with the disease, but to help them understand the various effective treatment options available to them. Mary Shomon believes that what works for one patient with hypothyroidism may not necessarily work for another. Like Mary Shomon, I also have this disease and find her books to be an inspiration and a great help to me. Since I read his books and didn’t realize that there were different options available to me, I lost over 10 pounds through treatment, diet, and medication! This is what led me to investigate Mary and her approach to this article. My hope is that it continues to inspire those who have been diagnosed and those who have symptoms of hypothyroidism and have not been properly diagnosed.
Mary Tilley:
“What inspired you to write, ‘Living with Hypothyroidism?’
Maria Shomon:
I was inspired to Write a Book because I myself was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1995.
When I researched what books were out there to help, I found most of the work
It was from male doctors, without Thyroid problems, who talked about the problem as if
cheap “easily diagnosed and easily treated” seemed to be their slogan, and it was
not many of us had the experience, myself included.
Mary Tilley:
“What was the motivating factor that made you investigate everything”
that is, he was trying to find out what he was doing
lose weight with this illness or fatigue, when you take
was the medication prescribed?
Maria Shomon:
“It was with me that I wanted to go back to feeling like I did before. The drug.”
I did not analyze my work and weight gain and I realized that I would find
I had to learn a lot more about Thyroid before I went to figure out what to do
then.”
Mary Tilley:
“Are you still investigating and talking to doctors about this disease?”
Maria Shomon:
“Absolutely! I am constantly reading, researching, talking to patients and”
doctors, as well as researchers, holistic experts, scientists, effect
to get a better handle on thyroid problems as well as how to deal with them effectively
everyone has a different approach to suffering.”
Mary Tilley:
“Do you have any other book ideas in the vault that we don’t know about?”
Maria Shomon:
“I’ve written humor books in the past, so I always have some ideas for humor books.”
hovering in the back of my mind, but I’ve been so busy with thyroid related projects
which I do not usually spare for other projects. But who knows…
Mary Tilley:
“Who is Maria Shomon?
what can be done to the readers. ”
Maria Shomon:
I am 45, I am married since 1995 to a heart guy named Jon, I have two children
I love it and like many women, I’ve probably missed a hundred directions. Although
when the children are in bed, nothing is better for me than a big cup of tea.
novel!! Make sure you’re lounging in a lounge chair on a sunny beach and it’s nirvana!”
Mary Tilley:
“Do you believe molecular medicine is in the near future?”
Maria Shomon:
“Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a cure on the horizon for most thyroid conditions for quite a .
a long time Most thyroid problems are autoimmune, and these types of diseases are complicated;
There are many triggers and they are currently poorly understood. So we’re probably decades away
from the remedy “.
Mary Tilley:
“What do you think about Thyroid Armor vs. Synthroids or Levoxyl?”
Maria Shomon:
“All drugs are useful for thyroid treatment. My opinion is that the best thyroid drug is”
one that is best and safest for every thyroid patient. Some patients do well
Synthetic Thyroid medication like Synthroid or Levoxyl, while others seem to work better.
the natural thyroid pharmacy Armour. The sum, however; it is for the patient to know
they have a choice. Now, many doctors seem to feel that Synthroid is the only option;
nor do they provide any other benefits to patients. I don’t think it’s the best approach
serves the sick
While Mary Shomon continues her work to help similar patients who suffer from Hypothyroidism, we can learn a lot ourselves by reading the self-help books she has written and knowing that there are other options available to us. Without suffering in silence, we too must fight this disease and help others who have just been diagnosed.
Special thanks to Maria Shomon for her time, we look forward to your next book!
