May 28 is a special holiday. For every holiday is for a reason.

Although we may not know the origins of many of these festivals, eager celebrants eagerly participate in May 28 as a very special day for so many different reasons.

May 28th is Amnesty Day, proclaimed by Amnesty International to celebrate the establishment of the organization in 1961. As a public holiday, Amnesty Day aims to raise public awareness of human rights issues around the world. Human injustices, such as torture and unjust detention, are the focus of this organization and this holiday.

Zerowork Festival

Based on several ancient cultures’ traditions of the year of jubilee (when slaves were freed, debts were forgiven and work retired), the Zerowork festival is held on May 28th th.

The first tuber potatoes are on the 28th of May, as others join their laziness. After all, it is a Zerowork festival.

Hamburger Day

The end of May marks the beginning of outdoor grilling season, and hamburgers are the hallmark of the dining channel. On May 28th, Hamburger Day, people everywhere fire up their barbecues to cook burgers with endless delicious toppings.

Hamburger Day really has a fairly sober origin. On May 28, 1969, after two weeks of massive fighting, the American forces in Vietnam retreated from Ap Bia Mountain (Hill 937), which later became known as “Hamburger Hill” because of all the casualties suffered there.

Notable anniversaries on May 28

The Sierra Club, a global conservation organization, in San Francisco, in California, on Apr. 28. 1890

On May 28, 1898, Secundio Pia published the first photograph of the Shroud of Turin in the Turin Cathedral.

U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the bill, adding the phrase “under God” to the American Pledge of Allegiance, on May 28, 1954.

The first Daytime Emmy Awards show was held on May 28, 1974.

Matthias Rust, a young German, landed a private Cessna airplane in the middle of Moscow’s Red Square on May 28, 1987. Rust was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
