Brady Hoke is the new head man in Ann Arbor, Michigan’s top college football winningest program of all time, and the fans are excited to say the least.
This is despite Hoke’s career losing record, but Hoke gets a lot of credit, and rightfully so, as he turns the dying Ball State program around and even into San Diego State, which many fans are hoping for.
Michigan football’s 2011 season predictions have only hovered around the 7-10 win mark with just enough deviation.
That’s because there are a ton of different factors to take into account when it comes to Michigan’s 2011 projected event. The Wolverines have a lot more talent than people give them credit for on the athletic side as former national title coach Urban Meyer pointed out in his visit for ESPN U at year but they have some players in Mike Martin Jordan Kovacs, Kenny Demens and several They could finally have key spots deeper this year, especially at CB with JT Floyd and Troy Woolfolk coming back from injuries. They wouldn’t be great, but they would be much better and deliver far fewer great stories.
2. The transition to the pro set- The new pro-style offense (quote-unquote) running through Al Borges will be tough for some players. The linemen will have to be tougher at the point of attack and need to runs. All eyes are on Denard Robinson at QB, however, but early returns are good on him under center as he played in that fashion . in high school and has some comfort.
3. Unexpected contributions – Some new, younger players should step in because some veterans don’t have it done. Contrary to some popular opinion, Rich Rodriguez had a good recruiting class on paper and the Wolverines have some talented young players waiting in the wings.
OLB Jake Ryan could be the star passer this year if the spring game is any indication. Other young guys who could walk are another star player, FS Carvin Johnson, and maybe even freshman running backs like Thomas Rawls or Justice Hayes. If not those two, Mike Cox may be the next star running back, even though he’s been on the field for years and buried on the depth chart. It will be more suitable in form I.
2011 Michigan Football Season Prediction: Expect a solid 8-win season from the Wolverines this year, mainly because they have tons of talent on offense and defense that should be brought down enough to finally compete again. But more importantly, don’t expect the same types of headaches and mental mistakes that plagued Rodriguez’s young teams, which could endear him even more to the hearts of longtime Michigan fans.
