Microsoft Project Server 2003 is a project management server solution. It is a very robust system for carrying out plans and resources. Highly detailed reports can be designed for project analysis and data analysis. Microsoft Project capabilities are extended by user Project Server and Project Access. Most of the users report that their time will be spent on tasks and projects through the Web Access Project. This is a Web-based application that allows users to access Server Project data. I will give you a brief overview of Internet Access and explain what each part is.
Protocol:
I display different sections of Project Internet Access Protocol. The first section is the updates area. When your resources submit tasks or you mark them as complete, they’ll show up here for you to review. Clicking on any of these articles will take you to the updates page.
The next section is the time sheet area. Here you will find time sheets from your resources that need approval. You will also receive notices when your time sheet resources are not consistent over a period of time.
The third chapter is the area of responsibility. This is where the new service area will appear. So if you will have a new role assigned to you, you will be able to tell from the protocol. You will also receive warnings if you do not fill out the time sheet on time.
The fourth and fifth sections show the problems and dangers. If they have personally assigned questions or risks to you, they will show up in these sections.
On the top page we find the main menu bar. Here you have choices for Home page, Business page, Project Center page, Resource Center page, Status Reports, Risk Updates, questions, documents and admin section. You may not be able to see all of this unless you have certain permissions. In the left hand part you have a list of actions that contains a few options to change your password and configure email alerts.
Work Page:
The All Tasks page shows your assigned tasks. You can check what you need to do here and report time on completed tasks. You can filter in several ways, group and search this page to make it easier for you with work. You can insert notes, risks, questions and documents for tasks. You are given the option to decline or delegate tasks to other team members.
Project Center:
Project Center shows all the tasks in the Project Server. There are several different views in the top right corner that you can use to get different information about projects. Clicking on a project will drill into the task level of the project. There are also links to the Portfolio Analyzer, Portfolio Model and To-Do List.
Resource Center:
The Resource Center displays all the resources in the enterprise resource pool. You can create custom views to show this information however you want. The main feature in this section is the option view. If you select some resources and click this button you will be taken to a page where each resource’s work and availability are shown in a graph. You can break down individual resources and see where there is more work or availability. You can also choose from several views to see different information. Other features on this page include the ability to compose actuals, analyze resource assignments, and view time papers.
Status Reports:
The Status Reports section allows you to request the status of a particular report or status report. You can create status report templates here and set them to be sent at specific intervals, such as a weekly status report to your employees. This is a useful feature to keep track of related issues.
Page Updates:
The home page only shows business changes that have been submitted by your resources. You can also set commands to receive changes automatically and view a history of past changes.
Page risks and issues:
These pages allow you to choose a plan and see all the related issues and risks for that project.
Documentation Page:
The Documents page allows you to click on a project and view any attached documents. If the team has added a document to something, you’ll be able to see it here.
Admin Page:
The Admin page is where you configure amazing settings like adding users and groups, setting custom views and categories and configuring all other options in Project Server.
