Middle Ages, the Age of Faith

The Middle Ages could be described as many different ages from the Dark Ages to the Golden Age. It could also be known as the Age of Faith and the Age of Feudalism. Although everyone believed differently, what they think is called the Middle Age, I believe the Age. faith because religion played a greater and more powerful role at this time. Faith and religion had more power in the Middle Ages and had almost a similar government. The greater part of the pilgrims were because of the fact that there was a war in which the Church was trying to conquer the Holy Land. It became a lot of excommunication, especially since you couldn’t come to church afterwards.

In the Middle Ages the church was the center of the town and was like a market place. This picture of the church shows how life was based around the church and how everyone believed in God. Faith and religion were a huge part of their lives and many lived their lives around the church. building used to be in the town/city. The church played a huge role in the life of the pilgrims not only they were at war

Peregrinus demonstrated the power of the Church and showed how much power the Pope had in the Crusades by death on the way to the Holy Land. Armies were sent by the church to go and re-capture the Holy Land (today’s Jerusalem). These armies were sent by the church and the pope. The soldiers who joined the pilgrims were freed by seizure and tribute, and if they did not consent, they were excommunicated and no longer part of the church. Although all 5 Crusaders failed, this shows how religion was dominated in the Middle Ages and shows the power of the Church and the Pope.

The power of the church is growing. Faith was a huge role in the middle ages and it was a huge part of life. Peregrine shows how powerful the church is. These holy wars were fought for God. If you did not come with the army to fight on the crusades, you fled into the town and were greatly despised.

The Church was almost the government of the Middle Ages. All the people who lived in the town were expected to pay 100% of their rents to the church and to be divided within the church. The church in the church court opens and made money to support the church. They often used parts of the church in the prytaneum. Likewise, the church was not only a religion, but a life of eloquence.

The power in the Church continued and grew as the years progressed, Christianity growing into different nations and continents. Faith and Religion in the Middle Ages had absolute power and almost absolute rule. The church is still an important role in everyday life now and probably will be for a long time. Religion in the Middle Ages or the Age of Faith was important to all, if not all.
