I’m a huge baseball fan but a few years ago I got pretty frustrated. Even though baseball games were a lot more frequent than 20 years ago, I still rarely got to play my beloved Mets. Even though the Mets were a marketable team, they weren’t very good until last year, when they couldn’t travel very often on ESPN. I wish I could see the Mets play the Braves on TBS sometime, but that was it. I wasn’t a happy camper because my Mets watch was nothing more than waiting to see the scorebook on the ticker at the bottom of the ESPN screen.
Then two years ago I discovered the MLB Radio solution. MLB Radio is a service that you can get from the official office of a major baseball company. MLB Radio will let you listen to any game you want. You can listen to the big game of the night, Red Sox vs Yankees. Or if you’re a Kansas City Royals fan and you’re the one person watching that interleague game against the Pirates then you can listen to the game itself. MLB Radio doesn’t just cover the regular season. You can listen to preseason games and regular games. Also if you speak Spanish fans are Spanish and they are never black.
I know the game doesn’t look like I wanted before. When I first signed up for MLB Radio I thought I would at least follow my team on a regular basis. However, now that I’m used to it, I just like listening to the games more than watching the games. There are hundreds of better announcers than radio especially since my only choices of announcers are television or ESPN. Television announcers are lazy. When the batter approaches on television the best they can do is something like, “This is so-and-so,” he stands. He’s going to try and do this more often.” Radio announcers always have little anecdotes about players to tell too. They really know their stuff way better than announcing baseball.
MLB Radio also works great. I’ve used it a couple of times now, and I haven’t needed a game. I’ve never had a single game lose connection in the middle of a game. You can also stream any game you want. If you want to listen to the Yankees and wild tigers and you think the Yankees announcers stink then you can listen to the tiger announcers instead.
