Mocktails for a Tropical-Themed Baby Shower

Whether you’re planning a festive Hawaiian luau or a relaxed beach party at home, the question of what drinks to serve at a tropical theme baby shower will eventually come up. Many moms-to-be don’t want to serve alcoholic beverages at their baby showers, yet one of the things tropical-themed parties are famous for. Tropical cocktails, or non-alcoholic cocktails, are easier to make than you think. While some can be as complicated as the original versions, there are many that can be easily mixed into large batches that are not only tasty, but cost effective.

Virgin Colada – This one is easy to make in large quantities, and since there is no carbonation, it can be served in baby bottles or other enclosed drink containers. Apple juice ausi, 1 part of orange juice, and 1 part of canned coconut milk in a blender and mix for 2 i3 seconds; that it should be ‘foaming’. Pour into glasses or bottles. In a blender, combine 2 ounces of white grape, 1 ounce of lime, 1 ounce of lime juice; 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar, 1 cup of ice, and 5 large cleaned strawberries. Blend on high speed until the ingredients are well blended and the ice is crushed. Serve in a Collins glass with a straw, or a baby bottle with the umbilicus cut off completely. Note: you can replace the water with a little artificial rum extract for the white grape juice if desired.

Baby Turbo – Treat your baby shower guests to a tropical breeze with this easy recipe for a Baby Turbo toy. There are lots of different combinations of hurricanes. This one is based on a recipe known as Category Two. Fill a highball glass 3/4 of the way full with ice, then pour in: 1 ounce flattened Sierra Mist soda, ginger beer 1 ounce, white grape juice 1 ounce, root beer flattened 1 ounce, 1 ounce orange juice, 1 ounce peach, peach juice mixed with two drops of almonds, equal parts pineapple juice and grapefruit juice. Top with a big splash of alcohol-free grenadine.
