Motel Review: The Garden Motel in Redwood City, CA

Garden Motel
1690 Avenue Broadway
Redwood City, CA
#650-366-4724

The Garden Motel is running on Craig’s List in the Bay Area recently, with a special nightly rate of $40 or just $220 for the week. Having some business in the Redwood City area, I decided to stop in for the night and check out the place.

Unlike many cheap motels, you can actually book and reserve a room in advance, and they encourage you to do so. The place is a real place in the not-too-busy area of Redwood City, mostly around small businesses and shopping plaza with some big box stores. Pop into the lobby for a minute, flash it to the nice lady, pay your money (it seems sales tax has been worked on. The price as it is sixfold) and you get your key and the night is set.

The building appears to be old, probably built in the 1950s or 60s and not updated much since then. The rooms are clean and fully functional, but a bit small and cramped. The walls are not too thick for anyone, that is to say, I hope and pray that it does not rattle the neighbors. Fortunately, each room box includes a fan, which can be used to generate white noise and drown out any unwanted ear intrusions (and even privacy keep something of yours).

In addition to the fan in each room, there is a 19″ TV, a microwave, a small fridge, a queen-sized bed, and a private bathroom with a shower and a sink. My room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable (towels even without fading World TV). Another freezer also decorate can’t pill ice cream. It was great and a lot of work. They also had a very fast and stable WiFi connection. available free

The bathroom is very narrow and quite old school, with a low flow toilet you have to be careful not to overflow and the shower which can be finicky as suppliessupply the rooms with plenty of clean towels and two small bars of smegma, but make sure to bring your own shampoo.

It’s not a far walk to downtown Redwood City, where there are many upscale restaurants and mid-range eateries like Quiznos. There is also Grocery Outlet discount grocery a short walk in one direction, long and large lots in the other, and a safe supermarket a very short drive. There are also plenty of cheap restaurants like Jack In Box scattered in the middle of this area, and there’s a 7-11 next door. I did not see laundry on site, but there is only a laundromat on the street.

For $40 a night in the Bay Area, you don’t usually get a place at a crackhead hotel. . If you do, you will almost certainly miss your bathroom, clean environment, clean laundry, clean linen, maid service, friendly owners, microwave, refrigerator and fast WiFi connection. Oh, and baskets as well. So, despite the limitations of large, thin walls and old lead, the Garden Motel is really quite amazing. . If you just need a basic room and can deal with those minor inconveniences, this is probably going to be better than the whole Savoy.
