Mother’s Day Haiku

When asked to write a Mother’s Day poem, my mind immediately wonders, which one should I write about? Having been fortunate enough to experience childhood with a Birth-Mother, Adoptive Mother and numerous Foster Mothers, I’ve had ample Mother experiences. Searching for consistency between the different Mothers, I delved into the old memory banks and came up with these two haiku as representative of those special Moms. Let me know if you’ve shared these experiences with your Mom.

Warm sugar cookies

Along with a glass of milk —

Mother’s home-made love

Hugs and a Band-aide

Topped with Mom’s finger kisses —

Mending my scraped knee
