Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker Review

A few years back we received a two quart ice maker as a gift from Mr. Coffee. This ice tea maker replaced our ice tea maker at a time when it was in really bad shape. The older tea maker had cracked hairlines and drooled when he poured the tea. Furthermore, plasma tea has never had the success of completing a brewing cycle so that it stops immediately mid-cycle. That was really frustrating and we think a few relatives picked up on our frustration, so they received a new tea maker from Mr. Coffee as a gift.

The ice tea maker makes two quarts of tea and has a removable carafe so you can pour water into the machine. The carafe also has a recommended measure of ice that goes into this same carafe after you have completed the measured water level. The rest of the step involves placing ice in tea bags on top of the strainer that sits on top of the carafe and brewing the ice tea unites Hit the “on” button, and you have a fresh ice tea mixed in about five minutes or so.

The Mr. Iced Coffee Tea maker did not meet my initial expectations as the first two to three cycles of the brew seemed to emit a kind of burnt plastic smell, which was very disturbing. I didn’t drink this first batch because I wasn’t sure if there was any toxicity to the drink from the “burnt” smell. I followed the original brewing cycle with an additional level of just-water brewing. By repeating this process again, the plastic smell is gone. I just set it up to be a new tool and have some kind of reaction to the first “warming up”.

Our overall impression of this Iced Tea maker is that we really like it. Our family consumes a lot of iced tea because we drink soda and juices sparingly due to their high sugar content. Mr. Coffee Tea maker has only used it for about the other day and it helps us to experiment with different tea blends whether Lipton, Luzianne, Trader Joe’s, or even generic. For used teas, we offer fantastic tea batches at ridiculously low prices when you compare prices such as Arizona, Lipton, or Ventos. He ordered them to be delivered by trade.

Few desires with this tea maker that is no fault of Mr. Coffee. I wish I had the first three-quart model as we don’t have enough tea on hot summer days with only the two-quart model. A family of four will pass by hot afternoon tea quite well. They usually use lemonade mixers to stretch the dough. This is also known as “Arnie Palmer” which is a big hit with the kids.

Another downside to making iced tea is the amount of ice that is used with each batch. Our Leo is old and does not have an ice maker. If someone buys an ice tea maker, buy a plan for many bags of ice per year if you don’t have an ice cube maker in the kitchen!
