Mythbusters Season 6 Episode 1 Review

The Mythbusters are back for a new season and they started it off with a bang. Actually, there was more of a crash, many crashes. In the previous episode of Mythbusters, we went to a two-hour demolition derby special edition. Adam, Jamie and the rest of the Hollywood crew try the car crash story and leave a trail of bruised and broken vehicles. It was a very good kick off to the new season and they did the team proud. Although there were few explosions, there was no lack of action or destruction.

The scorecard for the episodes looked something like this;

I follow the 2nd tractor from the aforesaid ramparts
1 Camper six were destroyed
1 Fruits stand destroyed
1 Link of the gate chain is often destroyed
1 city bus miles.
1 chain link fence section destroyed
1 rocket wolf is broken
10 Automobiles were destroyed

How about Buster in this two-hour special? There are five crash test dummy results – four of which were confirmed fatalities.

A total of seven plays were tested in this event which was first aired on 4.08.2009 how the equal plays reached the final test.

0 stories confirmed
They were found to be 2 probable stories
5 Histories are busted

There were three mistakes/miscalculations made by the Mythbuster team in the previous episode.

1. When they created an instant convertible under a semi-trunk drive, the braking system failed to stop after the impact. The vehicle continued at high speed and was driven over the shell berm at the end of the embankment facility. Fortunately, nothing but Bermo was injured.

2. In an attempt to break a car between two large piers, the failure of the broken cable sent both piers out of control. One truck carried several sections of chain link fence while the other truck stopped for a moment only to crash into San Francisco Bay. There were no injuries or major damage, and everything was repaired.

3. When dropping the car from the helicopter at 4,000 feet, the Mythbuster’s target was off and the car missed the target by about 300 feet. This is likely why the experiment was done in a remote section of the desert.

Best scene from the episode? Rocket Sled – This scene was amazing. The rock rocket, equipped with two rocket stages, only traveled at 600 mph. It left less impact on the car, and even a 50,000-pound block of cement tossed down the rear bumper. The slow motion drag with the car was a thing of beauty. The entire front 2/3 of the car seemed to literally disappear as the wolf advanced in front. If you want to see an extended slow motion look at the shot go to the Mythbusters website and watch extra footage from the episode. Several angles of several strawberries that were not shown in the aired version.

Most interesting facts revealed? I didn’t know it was so difficult to sleep on a city bus. That I made it through 90 degrees through all three attempts without rolling over was amazing. While you have to admit that Jamie and Adam aren’t your average drivers, the fact that they don’t sleep on the bus is still terrifying.

Overall the season premier was very good and looked at some very interesting myths. It was the longest or longest episode of any series. If they wanted, the show could have been 90 minutes long, and we wouldn’t have missed anything. It’s also true that the team is working with a bigger budget this time around, which is looking to do something visually interesting.

Score for Episode One : 8.5 out of 10
