National Oldtime Fiddler Contest Celebrates 60 Legendary Years in Weiser, Idaho!
The National Oldtime Fiddler Competition is underway to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee June 18-23, 2012. Locals and guests from around the country will gather to to celebrate 60 years of legendary fiddling and fun.
Located about 73 miles from Boise, Idaho, Weiser is best known for its small town charming, family-friendly atmosphere. but most excitingly in a festive republic. Held in the third full week in June, this year’s festivities will begin on Monday, June 18, and run through Saturday, the 23rd.
Fiddle Competition
The National Fiddling Finals are being held throughout the week at Weiser High School, and include the Adult Division Finals, Small Fry Division, Junior Division, Twin Fiddling and Senior Division. The excitement is on as the contestants reach out to a rabid audience with incredible talent. The competition begins on Saturday with talented contenders for the prestigious title of Grand Teton National Champion. Ticket information can be found online or by calling 208-414-0255.
Festival Events
In addition to the fiddling competition, the festival includes numerous activities and full events, the whole family can enjoy. Take in the sights and sounds at Bluegrass Village City Park, located between E. 3rd and E. 4th Streets, for a variety of shows musicians celebrated Tuesday-Saturday from noon to 9:30 p.m. Great craft and specialty shops can also be found at Bluegrass Village in Park City.
As you walk your way through the Weiser, the sweetest spices coming from Fiddle Vittle Way will pull you in with a sweet treat like the new com-on-the-cob, shades under one < a href="https://e-info.vn/tag/a>> in the garden.
The festival is set up in Memorial Park from Wednesday-Saturday and is a popular attraction for kids and the young at heart.
One of the all-time favorite events held during Fiddle Week, the annual parade was held on Saturday. The parade starts at noon, but you’ll want to find a good spot in the morning, preferably in the shade if it’s a hot summer day. The theme of this year’s parade is “Memories”, and be sure to make some new ones as you take part in this great event!
