Natural Ways to Heal Burns

No offense to grandmas throughout the world, but your home remedy is the worst solution to treat a burn. In fact, although it may ease the pain, butter could actually contaminate the burn. It’s funny, but often that is the first item many of reach for to soothe our burn.

Although butter is a no-no, there are many more natural ways to heal those nasty burns one experiences from fires, getting to close to an hot iron or forgetting the pot is hot and grabbing the handle.

Burns are a traumatic injury, some more than others. Most of us have experienced a burn of some degree while in the comfort of our own home. Fortunately, many of our less serious burn injuries can be treated by using items found in our cupboards. The more serious burns must be treated immediately by medical personnel. However, before we open our cupboards and refrigerator, let’s take a look at the different types of burns.

Burns are categorized or classified by degree. A first-degree burn occurs when the top layer of the skin is burned. This is the mildest of the three burn types. The skin will often take a reddish color and is painful to the touch. However, the skin is unbroken and can be treated at home. The next classification is a second-degree burn in which the skin is broken and will blister. A third-degree burn is the most serious type of burn in which surface skin and underlying tissue are destroyed.

More than likely, since some second-degree and all third-degree burns will require immediate medical attention, the natural ways to treat burns at home will focus on first -degree superficial burns.

To begin, apply cold water or a cold compress, then open the cupboards and fix those little burns by using one of the following natural solutions:

· Slice a raw onion, put on burn for 15 minutes, off for five and back on for another 15. The onion can be substituted with a potato; both will draw out heat and ease the pain.

·. Just make one small puncture in a capsule and let the medicine drip onto the burn.

· Take some slightly cooked black-eyed peas, mash into mush and apply to burn. Pain will disappear quickly and burn will heal at fast rate.

· Using pulp of banana lay on burn for twenty minutes. Burn will heal faster and this will keep blisters from forming.

·. Quick action will reduce the temperature of the burn and keep damage to the underlying tissue and skin at a minimum. Ultimately, the best natural way to eliminate burns: demonstrate caution when around items that causes burns. The number of burns could be drastically reduced if we would just beware of our surroundings and slow down. After all, there is no fire, at least not yet.
