Ooooh 5 foot 2, eyes of blue, would she would she would she coooo… What she does, actually, is burn like a female dog in heat. While I wasn’t born in Sweden, I have the native complexion, which is to say blonde headed, blue eyed, and very fair skin. That means that at least once a year I am going to come up against a mother of a sunburn. Usually several times. There are numerous products on the market which help kinda-sorta, but I have finally found one which I just will not part with: Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief ICE is everything I have been looking for as far as burn relief goes.
Ocean Potion ICE is a blue gel in a clear bottle like many of its brethren in the tanning section, but this one actually works. The three key ingredients are Lidocaine, Aloe Vera, and Tea Tree Extract. These 3 items working together will have you moaning with pleasure the second you start slathering this goo on that red hot burn of yours. When they say Instant Relief, they really mean it.
Seriously. I had ordered 3 bottles of this stuff last time we were in Miami and the guy Lars works with got soooo badly burned it was painful to look at. I handed him this and his eyes just lit up with the first dab. I never did get that bottle back from him. heh. I don’t blame him. I cannot express to you strongly enough how fast this stuff works, or how well.
On top of being the best pain relief gel on the market, it does not stain. For real! I got it all over my nice, expensive, white silk little tie-skirt thingy (sarong is it?) that I wear over my swimsuit and it rinsed right out the next day. Sweeeeeet. So many of these sunburn gels stain terribly. I was glad to find that the Ocean Potion ICE does not have that problem.
Also, this ICE does not feel all sticky on your skin in spite of it looking a bit like a blobby goo when it comes out of the bottle. It simply feels cool, refreshing, and ahhhhhhhhhh. My skin feels instantly hydrated when I pour this stuff on. I’ve gotten to where I don’t even wait for a burn to use it. I use it after every sunbathing session for the hydration effect now. I just ove the feel of it on my skin it. Yes, there is just a very slight amount of tackiness, but not much, and hardly even worth mentioning.
As to the odor, well, it smells exactly like it feels… cool & refreshing. It is a very light minty kinda scent. Very light. Hardly noticable at all really, unless you are sticking your nose into the dang bottle to test the scent for a silly review like I am. HA!
My one gripe is minimal and has to do with the cap. I have RA/Lupus and really detest childproof caps. This is one of the worst kinds there is. Ya gotta push down and turn at the same time. So, this means I either need someone here to open the damn thing for me, or bite the bullet and be in pain after fiddling with the cursed cap. There has got to be a better solution for this.
Still. It is worth the effort. Especially when I am sporting a brand new painful sunburn.
Ladies and gentlmen, a full 5 stars for Ocean Potion’s Instant Burn Relief ICE. I hate the cap, love the product inside. I’ve tried a lot of these kinda lotions in my 49 years… this is the one I will carry with me always on my travels. If you can’t find it on the shelves, order from the website. This is 8.5oz of heaven for a mere 4 bucks.
