Pink Pout – a Revlon Matte Lipstick Review

Revlon has some of the best drugstore lipsticks I have came across on the past few months.

While browsing Target this past weekend, I found that several of the Revlon lipsticks were on clearance.

I am not sure why only certain colors were marked down, as they don’t seem to be discontinuing them. I am hoping that they aren’t anyways, as I see wearing the shade I picked up in the matte formula often.

Revlon has several different types of lip glosses and lipsticks, their matte line included.

These lipstick tubes look different than the others as well as they are rounded, but not shiny. The tube itself is matte, which I think is a great idea.

The packaging, aside from being a matte black, is very well done. There is a matte silver band that runs under the cap and states the company name in bold black lettering.

The label is on the bottom of the tube. This is great for storage purposes as the color of the label is the color of the lipstick.

I picked up the color “Pink Pout” which is number 002.

Once you take the cap off, you twist the lipstick up from the bottom. I like how the lipstick goes all the way into the tube unless you twist it up yourself. This is great because you won’t have to worry about nicking the lipstick with the cap.

There is no discernable scent to this product at all. I have put this right up to my nose and cannot smell anything. This is a plus to some as lipsticks with strong odors can be a big negative to many.

The color is a nice bubblegum pink without being too bright. This is definitely for those of us who are more adventurous and don’t mind wearing something a little brighter than nude.

This color is lighter than my natural lip color and definitely has blue undertones, which suite my fair skin.

The formula is definitely a matte. There is no shine or shimmer to this at all.

I have worn this under lip gloss and it seems to work well, though I had to blend it together with the gloss with my finger to prevent it from settling into fine lines.

You will need to have smooth lips, so apply a matte lip balm before application to ensure that it does not look cakey or gather in certain areas.

The staying power is decent, but I usually reapply often anyways. It does feel sort of drying on the lips when compared to glossy versions, but after I took this off, my lips were not dry at all.

Overall, this lipstick has high ratings in my book. I would definitely buy this shade again.

The retail price of the matte lipsticks is around $6, depending on retailer. Some stores have Revlon products on sale often, and the tube I bought had a clearance price of just around $2.50. You can often find coupons in the Sunday paper on Revlon cosmetics as well.
