Pip’s Adventure in “Great Expectations”

The novel GreatExpectations by Charles Dickens is the story of an orphan boy named Pip who embarks on a journey to become a gentleman. This journey can be compared to a typical hero’s adventure, which proves that a novel can be seen as a heroic adventure. The invitation to come is the first thing in the world. Pip next finds himself on the road to trials. After many visits Miss Havisham and Joe (her brother) move to London. This movement is made possible by a mysterious benefactor. It is here that his studies really begin to become noble. Among the many troubles and obstacles he will face is that he has freedom for the first time.
