Planet Hollywood is one of the few Las Vegas properties giving travelers the opportunity to stay on site for the entire day without having to leave. With the Miracle Mile Shops, the entertainment, and restaurants, a couple could easily fill an entire day. This is the itinerary my wife and I followed during a recent stay in Las Vegas.
Breakfast
One of my favorite places to have breakfast in Las Vegas is in the La Salsa Cantina inside the Miracle Mile Shops connected to Planet Hollywood. The restaurant has a rustic Mexican feel and serves a $3.95 breakfast from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. consisting of eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat. With basic breakfast drinks, a couple can eat for under $12, which is rare in Las Vegas for a filling meal. It is located in Suite 380.
Morning
Most of the stores in the Miracle Mile Shops open at 10 a.m., but some open earlier. The architecture, which resembles a European or Middle Eastern open market, makes way for many photo opportunities. Watch for workers from the various shops passing out coupons during the week. Make sure to check out the free fountain show and indoor rainstorm, which are located near the middle of the mall.
Lunch
The PBR Rock Bar and Grill serves some of the best bar food in all of Sin City and is located in Suite 730. I suggest the barbeque pulled-pork sandwich — it’s one of the best I have ever had. My wife prefers the breakfast pizza, which is served all day and is topped with eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. Prices are comparable to a typical casual chain restaurant, but the food is superior in quality.
Midday
With the shopping out of the way, my wife and I entered the casino for a few hours to do some gambling before the crowds descended on the slots and tables. The gaming areas in Planet Hollywood are easy to maneuver during the early afternoon, as people are doing more touring than gambling. During our recent trip, we headed back to the Miracle Mile Shops to catch the Magic and Mayhem show at 4 p.m., as it stars Marc Turco from “America’s Got Talent” and Lacey Schwimmer from “Dancing with the Stars.” Tickets start at $47 each and are worth every penny.
Dinner
The Strip House Las Vegas Steak House is located inside Planet Hollywood and is one of the top-rated steak houses in the city. Meals average around $40 per person but are worth it, as the generous portions will keep you full through most of the rest of the evening (no need for snacking later). The hardest part of the meal is remembering to make room for their famous 24-layer chocolate cake.
Evening
There is always a show playing at Planet Hollywood in the evening. Peepshow, the Pussycat Dolls, and popular bands appear almost every night during the week. Depending on the show, tickets will typically run between $35 and $125 per person, which is average for Las Vegas. The shows in the Miracle Mile Shops, such as Evil Dead: The Musical, Beatleshow, V, and Vegas: The Show, range between $25 and $60. We stopped by the Sin City Brewing Company (Suite 504 in the Miracle Mile Shops) for a German-style beer nightcap before ending our day.
