If you’ve never had a garage sale, or you’ve had a bad garage sale, this article is for you.
I will divide the information into 3 parts: advertising, setup and pricing.
For sale:
Put it on paper. Add a long and expensive one. Something as simple as Sale Today! In this address. 7-3 Something for everyone! Never Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you always want to know that your customers have good stuff. For example, if you count Friday and Saturday, people might not know you were open one day on Saturday.
Post signs. Post signs with large directional arrows in the corners surrounding the site. You should also carefully ensure that there are many routes near your location. Don’t overdo it with your sign. SALE and Arrow are the most. Too many small words will make people give up.
Erect:
Trade your money! Confused? It’s easy, just read. Label your files: clothes, home, baby stuff, toys, books, etc.
Everything is worth it! It is also useful to label items for example: new, used 2 times, batteries included, size 12, etc.
Pricing:
People always ask me: How much should I ask for ________? It’s hard, but I’ll help you. These prices will help you move, if you want to make a lot of money, and not sell everything, make your own prices.
Clothing: Brand Name $1.00-3.00

Shoes: (all) $.50-$5.00
Bag: $1.00-$5.00
Family: 15% of retail, more if new and unused.
Baby items: 20% retail, more if new and unused.
Books:
Paperback $1.00-$2.50

Toys. $25-$3.00
Electronics:
To move that price. Especially something before the CD player or DVD player, this could be the last chance!
CDs $1.00
DVDs $2.00-$4.00
VHS Tapes $.50-$1.00
Tools:
$5.00-$100 If it’s cheap, sell it cheap. If it’s nice, remember a garage sale. If you want more than $100 in cash, put it to paper.
Other tips and tricks:
Sell soda and/or treats. You can add another $10-$40 in taxes. If you have two cute kids, sell them for a bigger buck. (Always keep them close to you for safety purposes!).
Often garage sales. There is nothing worse than going to the sale later and seeing everything like what she wore 30 years ago. Sell it while it’s on sale.
Park your car a few blocks away. A room on the street for your customers. Better yet, hang a sign in the vehicle listing where you can find your sale.
