Mega Million lottery rules

The rules of the Mega Lottery are simple. Pay $1.00, pick five different numbers from 1 to 56, and one number, the Mega Mega ball from 1 to 46. Win six numbers and win Mega Million jackpot.

Match five numbers but not the Mega Ball and you win the second prize, $250,000. Match four of the five Mega Ball numbers and win more than $10,000. Other prizes are $150 or less. Outside of California, the size of all Mega Huge lottery prizes is determined except for the jackpot.

Mega Mega Lottery Trap #1: Things are stacked against you, more than you think

Mega Giant, like any other lottery, is designed to make money for whoever runs it. In the long term, only the promoter is guaranteed to make money. The average payout of a drawing week after someone wins the jackpot can be as little as $0.25 per Mega Million ticket. Although the official Mega Millions lottery claims $0.50 every dollar is spent on prizes.

Mega Giant says your odds of winning are 1 in 40. But on average, every 40 tickets ($40) your winnings will be $10 or less 99.986% of the time. The odds of winning $150 are less than 1 in 7250. You have less than a 1 in 580,000 chance of winning one of the top 3 prizes. The odds against you winning the Mega Millions jackpot are more than 175 million to 1.

If you bought a $1 ticket each and every week, think about playing over 30,000 lives for a 50-50 chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot. You are 8 times more likely to be touched by the sky, 500 times more likely to die in a car accident; and 1,300 times more likely to perish from accidental injury than to win the Mega Millions jackpot.

To get a sense of just how unlikely you are to win the Mega Millions jackpot, consider playing the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. I can almost hear you muttering “yah right! Like those always gonna win!” You’re (almost) right, but that odd number is just as likely to hit the Mega Huge jackpot as any other set of numbers you come up with!

Mega Huge Lottery Trap #2: Asking for services or products to give you an advantage

Search Google “how to win mega million”, “mega million lottery strategies”, “mega million lottery numbers”, etc. and you will find millions of sites offering you about (or rather selling) products or services that will help you win mega huge numbers.

Such a plan is called rotation. Put simply, enter a number of at least 7 numbers, and the “wheel” gives you all the combinations of 6 numbers that are necessary to make sure that if any 6 numbers are entered, you will win the jackpot. A “full wheel” of 7 numbers requires the purchase of 7 tickets for $7. One 8 number costs $28. Full wheels of 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 numbers cost $84, $210, $462, $924, $1716, and $3003 respectively.

As you can see, the cost of a “full wheel” increases rapidly to cover more numbers. The question remains of choosing which numbers to “wheel” while keeping costs in mind. The only guaranteed way to win the Mega Millions jackpot is to “roll” all the numbers, but this would cost $175,711,536!

The Mega Lottery is a number drawn based on completely random numbers. There is no strategy to increase the odds of winning, except to buy more tickets and play more numbers.

Mega Mega Lottery catch #3: Even if you win you will share the prize

Almost every big lottery winner has friends and relatives crawl out of the wood to try and grab a share of the jackpot. But no matter how you keep it quiet, you still don’t get it all. First, the Mega Mega Lottery jackpot is split evenly among all jackpot winners. The other, no matter what you do, Uncle Sam will bite. Win a huge mega jackpot and count paying about half in taxes.

Bottom Line Mega Huge Lottery Plot

Your chances of winning the Mega Huge Lottery jackpot, or even the second or third palm are so small it’s mind boggling. The only people guaranteed to make money from the Mega Huge game operator and any slick salesperson you bought a service or product from.

If you beat the odds against you, there is a long line of people ready to grab a piece of the Mega Millions pie, starting with Uncle Sam. However lucky you are in picking the jackpot numbers, you may end up with half your winnings at best. It is not for nothing that lotteries have been called “tax on the illiterate in finance”. When was the last time you heard of someone really rich playing the lottery?
