Product Review: Cuisinart Frozen Yogurt- Ice Cream and Sorbet Maker CIM-20

The Cuisinart frozen yogurt- ice cream and sorbet maker model CIM-20 lives up to the precision of cuisinart products. I received this ice cream maker as a gift for father’s day. My children obviously had some further desire. I didn’t think I would get much use out of the ice cream maker, however the ease of use, simple ingredients and amazing results changed my mind. Our freezer is never without homemade ice cream these days.

The CIM-20 model is quite heavy, however this allows many ice creams with every recipe. Our family of four can easily milk from one batch of ice cream once in 3 days. When not in use, the ice cream maker fits easily in our garage, which isn’t huge.

The product is quite simple to use. The bag into which the ice cream mixture is poured during the making process needs to be stored in a bag in the freezer. It has a pocket of liquid around the inner part, which congeals. An ice bowl is placed at the base. The base has an electric motor that drives the bowl. A plastic shaker is placed in a frozen bowl. large clear boat cover is placed over the bowl and locked in place on the base.

After pouring the ice cream mixture into the bowl, stir in the Cuisinart ice cream maker and the hair stick; The bowl continues to spin causing the ice cream mixture to flow past the stirring stick. This freezes and cools the mixture and becomes ice cream. The amazing part only takes 20 to 25 minutes. The ice cream is creamy after 20 minutes and should be placed in a separate container and frozen in the freezer.

The world is broken up. The frozen bowl must be cleaned and dried, put it in a bag and put it back in the freezer. Moving the wood is really just a hassle to clean, although I usually hand it to my kids and they take it outside and clean it. Of course, wash it with soap and water.

The Cuisinart frozen yogurt- ice cream and sorbet maker comes with a small instruction manual that not only tells you how to use the machine, but also gives a list of great recipes. Amazing recipes; simple and easy to follow. Most recipes require whole milk, whip cream, sugar, and whatever you want to add, such as chocolate or vanilla. More elaboraterecipes call for egg yolk.

We’ve mostly used the Cuisinart CIM-20 for ice cream, however frozen yogurts and sorbets are easy and delicious.

The only fear with the engine is to wake the wood. It is plastic and seems light. I haven’t had any problems with it, but if it’s going to break something, maybe that will be it. I use many Cuisinart products and have faith in electric motors. They advise, however, not to run the motor for a period longer than 25 minutes. It doesn’t take longer than this to make any of the recipes, so I’m not too worried.

I love my Cuisinart frozen yogurt- ice cream and sorbet maker CIM-20. It’s fun, easy, and makes delicious yogurt, ice cream, and sorbets. It has seen a lot of use since it is father’s day, and it will keep our summers cool.
