Product Review: E6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive

I love this time of year as my Christmas decorations. Precious Swarovski Crystal glue bought at a jewelry store, and needed for craft work. Making these ornaments can be very time consuming, and I quickly learned that hot glue is not the proper thing to use. The crystal-backed planes seemed to stay put at first, but after a few weeks they started to slip. Swarovski Crystals are very expensive, and I need them to stay in place once they are glued!

A friend told me about a great tricks and jewelry glue called E6000. I was able to find it at both Michael’s and JoAnn’s local stores. It is expensive, around $7 for a 3.7 ounce tube, but well worth it.

Description

The E6000 comes in a gray colored tube, with E6000 written vertically, in bold, on the front of the tube. It is formed from the important performance requirements of the industry. The label states that this adhesive adheres to more surfaces than any other type of adhesive. It can be used:

* Wood
* Glass
* Plastic
* Metal
* Ceramics
* Fiberglass
* Leather
* Vinyl
* Garbage
* Masonry
* Concrete

Frontex claims that this tube is sticky;

* Attrition itself
* Waterproof
* Not flammable
* Flexible
* Paintable
* Medium Viscosity

My Experience

All I can say is wow. Great grip! The directions say to seal in the neck of the tube using a puncture cap. I lowered the pointer cap a little further, leaving a larger opening than I would have liked. When this pipe runs out, I plan to seal the next one with a smaller hole.

The adhesive comes off quickly, and I find it a little hard to work with. I usually pull a little with a toothpick, then apply to the area that needs the glue. While it takes to firm up, the tube says it can take 24-72 hours to heal completely. The glue dries perfectly clean, and is very rubbery and stretchy if you pull off any excess.

When I work with granite, it’s very goopy and sticky and can make a real mess, so I always cover my counter top (table, eputa< /a>, etc.) with the first journal. Once this has dried, it is difficult to remove. (The only solution that has been successfully removed is nail polish remover).

The E6000 worked fantastic for gluing my crystals into my jewelry. The glue retains a little bit of give (it’s just flexible), which allows the crystals to remain intact, even if they are bumped while I wrap them in storage for a year.

The glue has a foul smell, so you definitely want to use it in a well-ventilated area. When the glue is dry, you can remove any excess by cutting the razor.

Bingo my husband brought home a ball game cage that had been torn down the middle . They needed it to work for a Christmas party, and he told his co-workers that I could fix it. I attached the E6000 to one side, placed the two halves of the group together, and held them together with an extension cord. After setting the unit for 24 hours, I examined the battery and it was solid. The E6000 did an excellent job of repairing the plastic cage.

If you’re in need of some really tough industrial power, give the E6000 a try.
