Product Review: SteamTek Steam Mop

I’m not sure who admits to watching infomercials, but there comes a time when there is absolutely nothing on television. Sometimes, you may surf through the channels and the infomercial catches the eye, with their exuberance and excitement over the work being shown.

I have never been one to actually be called to purchase any item shown in an infomercial. Although some seem like they might be legitimately useful, I’ve never really found myself “needing” any more products around my house, other than what I already have.

However, while reading the other day’s flyers, I happened upon a department store site to note that I had previously seen one of those Saturday infomercials in the afternoon (when there was nothing else on TV). It was a steam sanitizing rock “SteamTek”. What really caught my eye was the much cheaper price than what the infomercial advertised. This made the product a little more interesting for me.

I also noticed that another store seller was still selling a similar product, albeit at a higher price. It occurred to me that with two similar products (that is, another company duplicating the idea, but with a different twist), that it could earn something in its resources. Of course, I would have thought of the second, even more expensive model.

With many houses, I have a carpet. Unfortunately, carpets are not always easy to clean, especially with children, traffic and constant care. I reduced the amount of clothing I have in my house for that very reason and replaced it with laminate flooring, knowing that it is so much easier to clean. However, I still have a carpet in the living room.

After looking at these news, and remembering the infomercial and noticing the significant reduced price, “I thought why not give it a try!” It would be so much simpler than dragging the heavy and awkward steam-cleaners than the cleaner from the base (where it is stored) and struggling with the files, assembling it, not to mention the arduous task of emptying the machine involved in use. This lightweight steamer would be much easier to use (if it worked as advertised on the infomercials), and I’ll admit, I’m all for the idea of ”easier” cleaning.

Agreed, I would like to purchase a “SteamTek” steam mop. His idea of using “smoke” to clean, not soap and boiling hot water, was also a deciding factor. Once home, I immediately retrieved it from its packaging, put it together (requiring no assembly) and quickly tested it. I was completely amazed. It actually worked quite well. A few stains were now out of sight my stains. Also, since it’s so light weight, I can choose to either do the entire carpet or just spot clean every now and then. It is so easy to use electric brooms.

It certainly has advantages:

* very light
* Uses little water (1 to 3 cups of water depending on the area needing cleaning)
* This allows it to be published (although not as quickly as on TV)
* the carpet dries very quickly to which it has been added
* No substrate or flooring as you would have with a conventional steam cleaner
* requires no soap, so no soap residue to worry about
* It does not take very little space to store
* There are no heavy smoking buckets, hot water to carry or empty
* It takes a fraction of the time for a steam cleaner to run a heavy duty job from start to finish

I really recommend this product “SteamTek” steam mop. Clean and sanitized clothing makes the job almost effortless.
