Pruning hybrid tea roses may sound like a very daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With some careful reading and understanding of these beautiful plants, you can have years of hardy, hybrid tea roses to grace your garden.
Hybrid tea roses are actually a bred cross between hybrid perennials and ancient tea roses. These magnificent flowers are the most popular in the world of roses for their beauty and incredibly sweet fragrance.
Hybrid tea roses in sustaining flowering and new growth then it is critical that the pruning of the plant is done in a safe and consistent way every year. Follow these steps to help keep my hybrid turtle roses healthy;
First, make sure you have the proper tools to test your hybrid roses. The thickness of the gloves is necessary, preferably leather, so that the rose thorns cannot penetrate. You also need two sharp scythes and a blind. You may also need a pruning saw for more established hybrid tea roses.
Look for dead canes on your hybrid roses. These must first be removed. Any stems close to the insert, at the base of the rose, must be removed. If you notice black spots on any cane, then remove that pest from the hybrid tea rose as well. Remove any dead or diseased canes at the base of the plant completely.
Next, look for the smallest and brightest four to six canes in the hybrid tea rose, which are less wide than a lead, as a rule of thumb. These are the canes you want to keep in your hybrid tea rose. All other canes should be cut from the roots of the plant, as close to the graft union as possible; as cleanly as possible. Be careful not to damage any of the canes you want to hold in the hybrid tea rose.

These are the stem trays and are to be removed by digging in the dirt surrounding the roots of the rose, until the root of the drinker is found in the root of the parent. Then you need to twist and pull the drunken shoot from the parent root. If you just kill this drinker off to ground level you will be twice as many in the next growing season in the same spot around the hybrid tea rose.
After you have removed all the unnecessary pipes, you will then consider the remaining up to 24 feet in height.
The general rule that many gardeners and bookers follow is to wait until after George Washington’s Birthday to plant roses. . If you think too soon, then the hybrid rose will have to grow too much in time. If you wait longer, then you will be cutting new growth. But don’t worry too much about damaging your hybrid roses, they are hardy plants.
