Quit Emailing HUGE Picture Files – How to Email Photo Files Successfully

You took the plunge and bought a digital camera. You’ve learned how to take those pictures, but now you’re trying to figure out how to download them to your computer and send them to friends and family. Well, read on – help is on the way!

The easiest way to download those pictures is to allow your “Windows” software to detect you when you plug in the camera. Use the USB cable that hopefully came with your camera to connect to the USB port on the CPU (main box.) The USB port is about “wide” and can be on the front or back of your CPU. Plug the cable into your camera and also into your computer and then turn on your camera and you’re done. Follow the instructions on the screen until it tells you that your files have been downloaded.

Now, go to the file location where your images are. Right click on the first photo and select Preview to see the picture full screen. Use the arrow keys or cursor to scroll through your photos. When you’re done checking out, click “escape.”

A common mistake people make when sending photos is attaching an image to an email. Although this works and gives the best quality in photo printing, it often makes the file so HUGE that anyone with an old model computer or can’t even see the photo when dialing into the service. Imagine your friends and family only seeing your beautiful new grandson’s bed. You want to see the whole picture!

If you want to safe photos with someone on the internet, follow these easy steps. First, which pictures do you want to send? Choose one photo, click on it and “send to email”. A box will pop up asking if you want to make all your images smaller. Yes! You do! This will be the reason for this post. Failing with the photo “name” in the subject line. You may change this to read something more interesting like “the most beautiful grandbaby in the world.” Want to send some photos together? We need to gather them together. To move images, click and drag in one area to select them all at once. After you have “drawn a box around them with your mouse”, go to the folder and send the message to the recipient. The specifications are the same as the one with the photograph.

Fill in the recipient’s email address for this email. You can send it to multiple recipients by placing a semicolon after each email address and typing the following. Don’t forget to fill out the body text that explains what your picture is about your friends and family. It is a good idea to put many addresses in BCC (Blind Carbon Copy). If the BCC option is not on your email screen, choose Tools and Select. Choose a recipient using BCC here and the option will be added to your emails in the future. Using a Blind Carbon Model prevents emails from being viewed by a zillion people. Why a zillion? Remember… they look the most beautiful in the world. Let them know what they will throw at everyone!
