Rare Marvel Comic Books

Comic book collectors tend to have stacks of longboxes. These white, pristine cardboard boxes can hold up to 500 comic books. In all of these boxes, most of the comics aren’t worth the price after the sale, but older comics are the exception to the rule.

Marvel Comics is one of the largest comic companies in the world. They brought us such heroes as Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and others. It was founded in 1939 by Martin Goodman as Strategic Comics. Amazing people are familiar from the 1960’s Fantastic Four and other comics created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and others.

These eight comic book marvels are valuable collector’s items. The prices are those listed on the Internet and are listed according to the condition of the comic books.

1. Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000) – This is the newest comic on my list. It is sometimes believed that comic books are pulling out of the “dark ages” of the 90s, when the comic book industry sagged. Brian Michael Bendis is the author, while Mark Bagley created the artwork. The originals sell for about $190.

2. Fantastic Four #1 (1961) – The debut of the Fantastic Four, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He said the price was $33,000.

4. Fantastic Fantasy #15 (August 1962) – The first appearance of Spider-Man. The comic series was on the wane, but Stan Lee was allowed to introduce this teenage individual. Near-mint stamps have sold for well over $100,000. Lee says, “Nobody cares what you put in a book that’s going to die, so I threw it in Spider-Man. I put it on the cover and forgot about it.” (http://www.coverbrowser.com/top/rare)
