Open to all
The purpose of the online agent database is to provide information about actors to casting directors and producers. However, lots of databases allow anyone to join information and posts on the internet. One query sets up a list that includes random citizens who want to cast themselves in the next action movie or a McDonalds commercial. They post pictures of themselves, which are still taken by consumer cameras. Some of these images include old photographs or pictures of someone sitting in bed. This is not only unprofessional. The reliability of the database is decreasing.
If the filmmakers want to cast regular people, they’ll go out and pick someone off the street. Online databases need to monitor the information posted on their websites. It is bad that they do not care to warn those who upload information. Most of the time they make money by getting membership or advertising revenue. that is the flow that will be mentioned later. What they allow someone to post is that it is difficult to find quality talent when using an online database.
Examples are listed actors
Lists of examples of actors are the most annoying aspect of online action databases. Until you don’t pretend. Commercial models are paid for. The honor of the actors brings the story to life. There is a noticeable difference in the skills and models of the players. Many online dating databases allow members to put themselves into multiple categories when they join. This causes a huge problem when searching for any star in the film. Online databases should only allow members to select one profession. That will obscure the permanent confusion, and the time spent on the faces of the actors.
I’m sure there are models who want to break into the action. There is nothing wrong with it. The problem arises when I return search results with models that have posted comp papers and no action resumes. Models who want to land agent roles should have two separate portfolios. Having a single figure that doubles as both a model and an action plan is not helpful at all. Unprofessional at best. A film or television casting director cannot measure your acting skills based on your photos from the latest shoots for Vogue magazine.
Examples are listed in the search results
Online database search agents create results that last for days. This would not be an issue if the event included nothing but actors. Unfortunately, it is not the same. Online databases include examples in search results. Message search results cause a lot of confusion and trouble for sending directors and producers. Online databases of agents are marketed and easy, one-stop shops for finding agents. Including patterns in questions makes it difficult to locate actors easily and quickly. Online action databases should be searched for results that reflect a specific section of the website, for models and actors.
A fee is required
Some online databases require a fee to join and search. Depending on the services offered, there is no problem with charging a small fee for a portfolio agent on the web site. However, there are online databases that charge around $40 and include even more databases. It’s ridiculous to charge agents huge fees when the money to be made in advertising is listed. Online databases may charge outside companies to display their products or services on the site. The most annoying thing is that many of these sites do this in addition to charging joining fees.
There are also online database operators who charge fees to search online portfolios. That’s astronomical irritation for independent filmmakers. No filmmaker in their right mind would pay $39.99 for the ability to search for actors. Online transaction databases are not a means to an end. Adjectives are simply a way of finding actors. Filmmaker does not pay for information that can be found for free, anywhere in the universe. Actors can be found in a variety of ways. By marking fees, online database agents do nothing but place themselves at the bottom of the list when it comes to firing agents.
Many of the online databases are nothing more than a hack. Scam artists run by scam artists to take money from someone who is vulnerable enough to send money to be counted with a bunch of other goodies. Actors can bypass online databases and market themselves in other ways. Many things can be done to generate more exposure for casting directors. Actors can join Yahoo action groups to keep up to date with posting opportunities. They can also make their own place where they can control themselves. There are tons of companies that offer hosting and easy to use small survey templates. Actors can also create a web presence on Myspace or another social networking site. Websites like Myspace offer the opportunity to post an online portfolio for free.
