Las Vegas, Nevada has a large seniors community. Many retirees decide to come here for the weather and to enjoy the laid-back lifestyle this area offers.

Some seniors, however, find themselves in a financial bind, due to a fixed income, having to pay for healthcare out-of-pocket, illness and other difficulties that come along.

If you are a senior residing in Las Vegas or you have a family member living here, there are a number of services that are available to assist our older citizens with health concerns, counseling, adult daycare needs, transportation, employment, food, companionship, legal matters and more.

The Arthritis Foundation has services and support for those who suffer from arthritis, no matter what age they are. To participate in their aquatics class, you must bring your own swimming suit and provide a permission form from your doctor. There is a yearly $52.00 fee, if you want to take the aquatic class They also offer skills training and helpful literature related to arthritis.

Among the services that the Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada offers is a senior Companion Program. for seniors 60-years-old or more. When available, transportation services are provided to take seniors to healthcare appointments, errands, etc. If you are a senior who is unable to leave your home, due to mobility and/or health reasons, shopping services may be offered, if available. To be eligible for these services, you will need a
referral fro a local Social Service Agency.
