Bravo, or Bravo Italiana Cucina, is an Italian restaurant that sometimes gets overlooked among its counterparts in the Louisville area. It is located on the busy Shelbyville Road, next to Oxmoor Mall. Bravo’s food, atmosphere, and decor make it a worthy addition to Louisville’s Italian choices.
On this trip to Bravo, I dined with my friend Donna, who had never been to a restaurant before. When we arrived, his first comment was that he was glad I had given him all the instructions or he would never have found the place. The restaurant is not really accessible in places. Bravo sits in a cluster of restaurants often overlooked by those not too familiar with the area. Patrons must take a confusing route past a huge car dealership and large retailers before finally coming to Bravo. Many other eating establishments in the region have failed, I believe, because of difficult access and low visibility.
We sat down immediately upon entering the restaurant. Our waiter, Amir, took our drink orders and left us to read the menu. Donna decided on the margherita pizza ($8.79), and I chose the chicken scallops ($13.99). The admiral returned with our drinks, and took our orders, and brought us a basket of bread and two plates with oil and oil and spices for dipping. The bread was a little dry, but the mixed olive oil was delicious and helped to moisten the bread and make it sweeter.
Our food comes quick. He topped off both our entrees and drinks with freshly shaved parmesan cheese. Donna’s pizza was huge! She could only eat half of it and ended up taking the rest home with her. Very good, he said, but I could have used a little melted cheese. Seasoning and tasty morsels. Scallopini of chicken My two chicken breasts covered with mushrooms, tomatoes, and capers, and smothered with melted cheese and lemon. garlic butter sauce, served with linguine pasta. It was delicious, but I thought the salad had to be paid for.
Our work at Bravo was like that. Amir was good enough, but not outstanding. The hostess who seated us was perfunctorily friendly, but seemed to lack sincerity. I have been to Bravona twice before this visit, and I remember the visits being so similar.
Overall, Bravo Italiana Cucina is a good pleasure to eat. Their food is excellent, and they have some unique dishes on the menu that I haven’t seen in other Italian restaurants. I may visit again in the future, but one of my absolute favorites has not been made. I feel that there are other restaurants Italian around that are more accessible, offer better value for your money, and have. equally delicious.
