Restaurant Review: Fire Mountain in Taylor, Michigan

Fire Mountain is located in Taylor Michigan just off of Eureka Road and 1-75. Fire Mountain is owned by the same company as Ryan’s Steakhouse which used to be in the exact same location. Fire Mountain is an all you can eat buffet that has a lot of variety and offers steaks on its buffet during lunch hours. Their prices are reasonable at $6 for lunch and $10 for dinner, but that doesn’t include your drink.

I visited other Fire Mountain locations in other parts of Michigan and was happy to see that one was located near a friend’s new home. We walked into Fire Mountain on a Friday night and the line was a little long, but nothing worse than what you’d expect at a reclining restaurant on the weekends. We had a party of seven people so we waited for a waiting table but when we waited. I went up at half an hour, to ask the host when he thought we should get a table. We have forgotten our admiration. Not a great way to start a visit, but nothing rough that a wonderful visit could not escape.

After another 10 minutes of waiting, we finally sat down. Since it’s an all you can eat buffet, we sat down in our shirts and at the buffet leaving our beards throwing our drink tickets on the table for they would welcome the servants. When we got to the bars half of the plates were either empty or so dried out that the food was inedible. The lettuce in the salad bar was not a pretty green color but rather a color that signaled the day was gone. turned from brown There was also a huge mess of salad dressing and salad topping items everywhere. I mentioned this to the manager, who I said was more interested in flirting with some young pedestrians than he was trying to fix the situation in the restaurant.

After returning to my table with a nearly empty plate, I realized that our drinks had not arrived. Our drink ticket was still on our table and that meant that no one had even come to the table. I sat and waited for the waiter to come and after another 5 minutes of waiting he finally approached a group of waiters to see who he needed to talk to so our table could get their drinks. They all looked at each other saying that it was not their table. Finally one of the girls says with a roll of her eyes “I guess I can do it.” Thanks Gess for doing your job and everything, I don’t want to put you out of the way or anything. I told him to forget the drink and send the waiter to my table.

Our entire party of 7 people was very disappointed in what we thought was a fun dinner with each other. At last the manager pointed to the table, and of course it was the same man who had beckoned the waitress before. I explained the issue and the refund as requested. He didn’t even apologize to us! He just walked up to the table and handed me the money. I guess I didn’t expect any more from him, his boyfriend was still waiting for him and he had other things on his mind besides his job.

Needless to say, I took our group across the street to Denny’s across the street and had a good dinner. I can’t believe how different this store is from all the others that have been there, but trust me we are not going back to that place ever again.
