Restaurant Review: the OK Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia

In Atlanta, it can be hard to find the legendary Southern hospitality and home cooking that you hear about. On a daily basis, you’re much more likely to drive the road of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. than the nicer roads of the South. There is one notable exception: the OK Cafe in Buckhead at the corner of US 41 and Paces Ferry Road. At OK Cafe, the waitresses and staff old crisp white dress and greet patrons in a friendly manner. The air is casual, but I like the long lost words, thank you, and they just float in the air. But the staff moves quickly, competently, efficiently. Most importantly, the food is always more than just O.K.!

OK Cafe serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. My wife and I typically go to dinner and have one of the Blue Plates Specials. Unlike many restaurants, the Blue Plate Specials are the best food on the menu at OK Cafe. They have certain specialties such as meatloaf with creole sauce, rotisserie chicken with lemon pepper tamari, crab and crab cakes; Roast Turkey, Gravy, and Bread Meal; country fried steak; chicken pot pie, and roast salmon. I love their rotisserie chicken. My wife loves her crab and crab cakes. They have a large amount of crabs and several crabs per cake. If you want a burger, a sandwich, or a shake, everything is readily available and reasonably priced.

Each Blue Special comes with a two-part item. Choosing sides at OK Cafe can be tough. There are so many excellent choices, but as I look at my carbohydrate intake, I look at collard greens, kale, and green beans. If I didn’t watch my weight, I would indulge in wonderful mashed potatoes wonderful mashed potatoes. or corn. But I cannot speak. On my last visit, I succumbed to the special offer of fried green core strawberries. There are many appetizers on the menu, but we have a spot for fried cheese with jalapeno and cheese dip. It should also be very important. But I try to forget that they have two of my favorites: pecan pie and key lime pie. They also have excellent ice cream.

Although OK Cafe has a lot of traditional southern food, if you’re on a health kick, OK Cafe has several healthier options. The back menu embodies OK Cafe’s commitment to healthy living. If there’s going to be a hormone and antibiotic free way, you’ve got the restaurant covered. If you want to avoid meat, you can get a four veggie plate for $9.99. I find that the best accessory is to choose the part carefully, and either to taste or to leave it on the table.

If you want to take dinner home or eat in your vehicle, the restaurant in the back is called OK Take Out and many restaurant favorites are refrigerated, packed, and ready to cook. There are also many buffets available for you to build your own party. OK Take-away is good if you don’t have time to sit down for a proper meal. It is also a great place to get sucking picnic food.

The OK Cafe is moderately priced. My wife and I can have a taste, eat a special blue plate, and tea for less than $50 including a nice tip. As much as I love IHOP and Waffle House, OK Cafe is definitely a step up. We happily recommend the restaurant for any meal. As their saying goes, “No worries…everything is always good!” It’s cool to have a neighborhood restaurant with the highest standards for service, great food, plenty of healthy choices on the menu. . Just make sure you arrive early on weekends, OK Cafe is a popular breakfast spot!
