Although this review focuses on the original Roadhouse Grill in Everett, WA, there are locations in other parts of the state, as well as in Oregon, California and Minnesota.
On Tuesday, July 24th, my wife, daughter and I went to the original Roadhouse Grill for dinner. It opened late night at this restaurant just two blocks from our room, and after checking off the list on their site, I I’m dying to try this place. I’m glad I did; He was not disappointed.
We walked around 6:30 PM. Opening night, I expected it to be crazy dark. I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was moderately busy, and the staff seemed very professional and courteous. We immediately sat down and gave him a bucket of peanuts. I thought they were joking on the site when they said to just throw the shells on the ground, but that’s what we did.
Within two minutes, a waitress came to take our order. Since it was our first time, we wanted to take a few minutes to look at dinner on the menu, but I decided to go with Buda Lite Go ahead and order Texas Eggrolls. They arrived, and the beer was one of the coldest I’ve had in a long time. The Texas Eggrolls were just as good as I was hoping they would be. They consist of fried wontons filled with milk and jalapenos and great flavor. They have just enough kick to almost require a drink, but you won’t be breathing fire for a minute after eating these. I will definitely order these again.
For lunch they all ordered various burgers. I ordered a Cajun burger, medium rare. For some reason here in Washington, it’s impossible to get anything average lately. Not at the original Roadhouse Grill. My burger and fries came out and were perfect. I honestly can’t say when I’ve had a better tasting burger. The burgers are all half a pound, so perfectly filling.
My wife had the regular cheese and seemed to definitely enjoy it. My 2-year-old daughter, we ordered roasted and fried, which is not interested in eating because the colored crayons are more inviting. So we eat and drink and drink apple juice. I ended up taking his burger and the rest of the Texas eggs for lunch the next day, and found that they turned out well.
To close out the evening I ordered a long Islandic Tea, served in a 16-ounce mason jar. It’s very cool to see some variety in the glasses. My wife ordered a brownie sundae, which she and my daughter shared and loved.
At the end of the night I ate three meals, a dessert, two beers, a mixed drink, and ice tea for my wife and juice an apple for my daughter, I was expecting to walk away carrying a pretty hefty bill. Before the end, it was less than $55, which isn’t bad for three people plus bar service. It’s really comparable to what we’ll have in restaurants like Applebee’s or Red Robin, but this place was more fun and better he had food The staff was friendly and so helpful, always helpful.
My only complaint about this restaurant is that they don’t have a braille sign for us blind diners. But the menu is available on their website, sans price, and is completely accessible.
All I can really say in closing is: I hope The Original Roadhouse Grill remains my neighbor for a long time to come. I truly believe I have found a new favorite restaurant and bar, and I will try the steak again. It’s definitely hard to decide what to order because everything on the menu looks and sounds so good.
